What students say about Curtin University

Likes

  • However, more focus should have been on the real-world application of law instead of law areas in order to better prepare us for law firms.
  • The placements are the best thing in the university, as I have already mentioned. Australia is a hub of mining, with several mining companies located only in Perth. The number of mining companies in Australia as a whole can exceed expectations.
  • Though I didnt personally visit my university, the university had its 0-week orientation program for the people who attended it personally, which had exciting activities, free food, and many more things.
  • Agricola helped me find a very comfortable and affordable accommodation, which was also the nearest to my study place.
  • There is HECs help, which is government-funded assistance with fees that I applied for and is paid back once you start earning a certain amount.
  • Excellent faculty that has a strong focus on education but also cares about students and seeing them achieve.
  • My admission process was thoroughly done through my own research, as Curtin University stands among the top 1% of universities and is considered the best for mining engineering. This is because Australia is a hub for mining.

  • Although it's not just this university but the country's culture, foreign universities charge for things that normally an Indian university would give for free. For example, my pre-service teacher badge cost me a good $20 to order, which should have been ideally provided by the department.

Overview:

I have grown as a person at this University. Not just in terms of academics, which made me realise how tough and complex a teacher's job is, but also as a person.

Fees:

The total tuition fee is around AUD 63,000 (approximately INR 35,00,000)

  • The campus looks beautiful but it is not active. After 5PM, no eateries are open inside the campus. All the clubs like dance, music, machine learning, etc. are just for namesake. The location of campus is also far from the city.

Overview:

Overall the experience was good. There are many pros and cons. Although the routine life was boring, the infrastructure was damn good.

Fees:

I didn't pay any tuition fees.

  • While most things are beyond amazing at Curtin, as an international student I feel the fee is expensive to pay but that’s just how we see any comparison. Most other universities have a higher fee but even with scholarships, it could be tough for a middle class Indian.

Overview:

It has been an amazing journey so far. There is ample scope and opportunities and Perth being a moderately populated city makes it easy to find places and people that are willing to help.

Fees:

The cost of each unit is around 3.5k AUD. I have to complete 4 units in each semester and I have 4 semesters in total.

Overview:

My admission process was thoroughly through my own research as Curtin University stands among 1% of top universities and best for mining engineering as Australia is a hub of mining. I got major help from the consultancy (SIEC)

Fees:

The academic fee was 38500 AUD per year 19250 AUD per sem (10,42,866.87 rupees) You would get a 25% scholarship based on merit. I personally opted for an education loan through HDFC credila. The additional fee may be included such as a library, personal tuition fee, accommodation fee, living cost etc.

Overview:

Liked it. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and all the people were so nice when I went for the open day. I felt like the course was also just my calling - it had so many components I loved and I just had my heart set.

Fees:

40000 for domestic students for the whole course. This comes with student and amenities fees over like 100 a semester. With scholarships, it's cut down though so that's good.

Overview:

It had a high ranking than the other college that offered my course. The campus was larger and more catered to what I wanted as a student and it was also located closer to cheaper rental accommodation off-campus.

Fees:

$9000 per year which can be HECS debt approved. SSAF fees are about $130 a semester. There are also uniform fees.

Overview:

I went to college because of instant entryway into law. Other universities you had to do an undergrad to get in, but for this one, you didn't. It also had great reviews and a great city campus for the law students.

Fees:

There is HECs help which is government funded help with fees which I applied for and is paid back once you start earning a certain amount.
