What students say about Queensland University of Technology
Likes
- The curriculum is very assignment-based, which gives us the opportunity to research and find information for ourselves.
- I havent partaken yet; however, I know it entails 100 hours of work within the field we choose to study and grants many credit points, which is ideal since our industry is very hands-on.
- There are a multitude of job opportunities and placements, but these are something you must apply for of your own accord.
- The fee structure was very fair compared to other universities in Australia, and, combined with a moderately priced cost of living in Brisbane, it is an ideal location for embarking on education.
- Perfect because everybody seems so nice, and everyone is open to helping everyone else, which creates a good community for everyone who attends the college.
- Networking and travel opportunities, which QUT was able to offer me in addition to my studies themselves, were significant factors.
Dislike
- I believe that it is outdated and needs to be rethought. I also believe that a wider variety of classes need to be offered for those who do not wish to undertake the standard subjects.
- No, I never applied for any, so I am not informed enough to guide you on how to apply for this

Overview:
Networking and travel opportunities in which QUT was able to offer me in addition to my studies itself. QUT offers many short and long term exchange programs as well as study tours which allows small groups of students to travel overseas and gain credible experiences
Fees:
I was able to participate in my degree through HEX and this also included my SAS fees too. If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have been able to attend university at all. QUT has also been accommodating to students through many scholarship programs on offer.
Overview:
Because this is the only university in Brisbane which focus on more practical application than theory in technology field there are a lot of opportunities in this university to work on IT projects with supervisors and learn how this field operates in real life which motivated me even more to join this university
Fees:
Scholarships are available to students with high grades and fees are quite high for international students. You need to pay for every unit you study and paid at the beginning of every semester. I am doing 3 semesters for my first year so I need to pay money at the beginning of every semester. I am looking forward to a scholarship
Overview:
I heard many good things from past students, my siblings also went to this university and had positive experiences. It was closer than Griffith and I also liked the campuses a lot better than any other university I looked at.
Fees:
I deferred my fees to HEX, this process was made very easy and straightforward. There is another fee for each semester of study that you can also defer.
Overview:
I had the course I wanted and was easily accessible. I enjoyed the general atmosphere of the campus and the facilities were good. There was also a broad range of clubs and societies that interested me.
Fees:
The fees are government paid when you apply for HECS help loans which I believe is beneficial as it allowed people from all walks of life to gain a degree to improve their employability
Overview:
It had lots of freebies and it's just a great school from word of mouth it's also easy to access and who doesn't like free stuff. I'll go anywhere if they do lots of giveaways and market days and fun activities.
Fees:
Reasonable and tells how the government helps out when you're applying they strongly suggest to fill out a financial aid document.
Overview:
I elected to go to QUT due to its reputation. I had heard and researched that QUT had one of the best technology courses and curriculum in comparison to other universities teaching the same course. Its location is in the middle of the city also made it easy for me to reach it from work.
Fees:
The fee structure was, you were charged a flat amount per unit per semester. There is extreme transparency with the cost, and students have the ability to drop out of the particular unit before the unit cost is incurred. I never had to pay for any resources in order to take the course, but textbooks were recommended (and the ones I did acquire were certainly helpful).
Overview:
I heard QUT has the best learning faculties. I have a lot of friends who go there. QUT is in the top 10 universities in Australia. I have amazing support from tutors and lecturers. The campus is based close to home.
Fees:
3,055 for the course alone. $2,436 for textiles and resources. Quite expensive for a short study period.
Overview:
QUT has a good ranking which will give me a recognized degree, and also with their learning resources outside the classroom, it will allow me to gain practical knowledge. Brisbane being a very hospital city made me consider it as well.
Fees:
The fee structure was very fair in comparison to other universities in Australia, and also with a medium priced living cost in Brisbane it's an ideal location to start on education.
Overview:
Because it's a good college and I have been referred to it by family friends who have recently completed their degrees and they all said it is definitely worth my time and effort to at least try and complete a degree.
Fees:
Fees structure was alright but pretty expensive the most part was travelling to the college there and back began to seem expensive but it was alright.
Overview:
Good for business and receiving real world expertise and internships. The lectures and tutors are passionate about there subjects and it shows. The campus is centrally located and very beautiful. There is significant Support for extra curricular and studies assistance.
Fees:
Each subject costs a different amount of money. My business subjects tend to be a significant more amount of money than my psychology subjects.
