What students say about Macquarie University

Likes

  • Its three years of full-time research, along with annual presentations for assessing the progress of your studies (Thesis committee).
  • Yes, I havent done one yet because Im only a first-year, but Ive heard that they are well-known for providing amazing practical experience in all fields, which is beneficial for future employment.
  • Job Placement is structured not to directly interfere with university life and exams, making them ideal for studying.
  • I have revived a scholarship worth 20,000 dollars, which is divided over a 2-year span.
  • There is a state-of-the-art library, gym, excellent student center, and study spaces that are on par with any elite university around the globe.
  • My parents own their own house in Sydney, so there is no problem with residence. However, I would rather prefer living on campus as transportation costs are reduced and it gives you more time to meet new people and focus on studying.
  • They say each course is worth around 1400 for each unit. In my opinion, with that money, I could go to UNSW or USYD, which can give me better job prospects.
  • It is a very supportive community with lots of helpful people, and the faculty is structured well - there is a course convenor and then the staff.
  • Macquarie is known for its excellence in psychology degrees and studies; many people have also informed me of its reputation in this field.

  • Dislikes:
  • Less practice on current accounting software's,
  • Some subjects were too theoretical,
  • Some subjects seems irrelevant to the current accounting career trends

Overview:

I chose this university because they are strong in the accounting major and have good graduate full-time employment rates.? I have gained a lot from my university, not knowledge from all the lectures but friendships from times I spent days and nights in the library, gaining good relationships and acquaintances that later on were helpful when I joined the workforce. If I could choose again, I would still go to Macquarie University.

Fees:

It was $4,500 per subject. I studied 20 subjects over 2 years. Please note every year after the end of the financial year, the tuition fee will be increased in light of inflation and CPI.

Overview:

First, I searched for courses that I want to pursue and accordingly I researched for university and I found this degree good for me in this university. Going through IDP will help a lot and I would recommend that. The best part of this university is that they offer double degrees at the same time.

Campus Life:

The main thing that I like about library is that there is unlimited study material. About infrastructure, there is a different department in different buildings. There are many clubs in my university. The main uniqueness of this university is they give double degrees.

Overview:

This was my first preference because I really wanted to go to uni in Sydney. I really love Sydney so much and I can't wait until I can live there but for now, I have to catch the train but hopefully, I can move there very soon because I feel like good stuff will happen once I'm actually living in Sydney and am close.

Fees:

I have a loan through hecs so I don't have to start paying off my loan until I make something like over $50,000 a year. most people try to get out of paying for it because they think that if they just never really get a proper job the government will just pay for their hecs and they won't ever have to pay it back themselves.

Overview:

I got an early offer from this university and also because it has a great reputation within Sydney. Also because it is very easy to access as well so transportation becomes very easy. Based in the center of Sydney.

Fees:

As my college was private the fees were also very high. I paid around ten thousand dollars every semester for a total of 8 semesters.

Overview:

The open day for Macquarie was sub-par, to say the least, but its potential accessibility, quality of education, and unit offerings made it an attractive option. I ultimately chose to attend this university for its convenient location and career prospects. I applied for 6 universities and was offered places for five. Whilst my ATAR was not spectacular, bonus points pushed me above the line in nearly every case. The enrollment process for Macquarie seemed difficult, but comprehensive. I noted its 'backwardness' and lack of intuitive design, but acknowledged its support that seemed to be missing from other options I explored.I chose this programme for its applicability to my diplomatic plans. I always intended to go into International Relations or something close to it, and International Studies seemed perfect. Compulsory units tend to rely less on exams and more on internal assessments, which has proven to be a great stress reliever. I enjoy participating in class discussions and the programme has catered well to my wants and needs.

Fees:

The tuition fees for my programme run just over $4,000 per year with Commonwealth assistance (HECS-HELP). Scholarships are plenty and widely-offered through the University and through UAC. Specific scholarships depend on criteria being met (home country, dependency status, living arrangements etc.).

Overview:

I choose this college because Macquarie is part of the "Big 4" universities in Sydney, as long you are in one of these 4 universities in Sydney then you are "safe" career-wise.

Fees:

All fees covered by the government's HECS loan program.

Overview:

I did not have the Australian equivalent of the entry requirements to get into an Australian uni. My Family applied for this uni and my siblings got in therefore I attempted it too. It was so worth it.

Fees:

The main fees are the tuition fees but here in Australia, you can apply to something called HEX where you pay fees after graduating.
