Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) offers a host of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees through its 11 academic schools and multiple departments of study. These programs are offered in a wide range of disciplines including Science, Humanities, Commerce & Management, Vocational Studies, among others. The degrees awarded by the university are M. Sc., M.A., MBA, B.A., B. Voc., M. Phil., and Ph.D.

Application form for admission to all the courses can be filled online, accessible at https://cuhimachaladmission.samarth.edu.in/
Admission to undergraduate programs is on the basis of academic merit in qualifying examination, i.e., HSC or 10+2.
Admissions to PG Diploma Programs is on the basis of percentage scored in Bachelor’s degree.
PG Degrees are split into three groups and applicants can apply for a maximum two Programs (Choosing only one program from one group out of the three.
Candidates can apply for up to two PG programs in a single application form.
PG Degree admission is based on a national-level entrance test conducted by the university.
For the current academic year, the university may waive off the entrance test requirement and grant admission to PG applicants on the basis of academic merit in qualifying examination, considering the ongoing Corona crisis.
In case less than 50 applications are received for a particular program, the university will cancel the entrance test for the said program and grant admission on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination.
The University conducts a separate entrance test, Himachal Pradesh Kendriya Vishwavidyalaya Shodh Patrata Pariksha (HPKVSPP) for Ph.D. as well as M. Phil. Admissions.

Funded and regulated by the University Grants Commission, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh was established in the year 2009. Located at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, CUHP presently is developing its two permanent campuses at Dharamshala and Dehra.

As per NIRF data, in the AY 2017 - 18, 47 postgraduate students were placed with a median salary of INR 3.5LPA.

Central University of Himachal Pradesh MBA Admission 2024

The MBA degree at CUHP is a full-time interdisciplinary program with an annual intake of 90 students. The students have the liberty of custom-designing their own program within set guidelines.

Completion of MBA degree requires earning of 80 PG credits in 4 semesters. A student who opts to leave the program after successful completion of two semesters and 40 PG credits, is awarded an Advanced Diploma in Management.

At the undergraduate level, CUHP conducts B.Sc., B.A., BFA and B.Voc. degrees. Barring the BFA program which is delivered over eight semesters, all the other undergraduate programs are of 6 semester duration. The B.Sc. and B.A. courses requires 140 UG credits for degree completion. BFA program, on the other had requires 192 UG Credit and B.Voc. program needs the candidates to complete 180 UG Credit.

Central University of Himachal Pradesh Ph.D. Admission 2024

CUHP offers the innovative research-oriented Ph.D. degree in several disciplines. For course completion, Ph.D. scholars need to earn 120 RD Credits in at least 3 years/ 6 semesters while the maximum duration allowed is 6 years/ 12 semesters. The university may consider granting a further extension of 2 semesters above the maximum time limit under special cases for the completion of the Ph.D. degree.

Candidates who have completed M.Phil. from CUHP, will be considered for lateral entry into Ph.D., provided they apply within three years of receiving the M. Phil. degree.

Candidates who have completed M.Phil.(Regular) course work with at least 55% aggregate score or an equivalent grade B in the UGC 7-point scale, will be considered eligible to pursue research-work leading to Ph.D. Degree.
Sponsored candidates employed with a higher education institution/ govt. department/ PSU/ R&D Organization/ private industry with at least three years of experience and relieved on study leave to pursue Ph.D. are also eligible to apply.
Ph.D. applicants must have qualified either UGC-NET/CSIR/JRF/ICAR-NET/SLET/GATE/or the university conducted entrance test HPKVSPP.

Selection Criteria

Ph.D. applicants should accompany a 1000-word research proposal and two recommendation letters.
Candidates who score a minimum of 50% in the entrance test are called for Personal Interview.
Admission is based on a composite score taking together academic merit, admission test score, and personal interview performance, with weightage distributed at the rate of 40%, 30% and 30% respectively.

As per NIRF 2020 data, in the last academic year, 2 undergraduate and 25 post-graduate students have received full tuition fee reimbursement from the State and/ or Central Government.During the same period, 4 undergraduate and 185 post-graduate students have received full tuition fee reimbursement from Institution Funds.M.Phil./ Ph.D. scholars are eligible to receive Fellowships and Contingency Grant as applicable to Non-JRF candidates as per UGC rules, provided they fulfill the UGC/ University norms and requirements.

FAQs

Ques. I have a gap of 5 years after my B. Com degree. Am I ineligible for admission into the CUHP MBA program?

Ans. Admission of candidates seeking admission after a gap of three or more academic years after their last academic qualification from either CUHP or any other University requires clearance from the Admission

Review Committee comprising of the Dean, Students' Welfare (DSW), the Dean of the School concerned, the HOD concerned, and the Proctor. So, you can apply, but whether you are accepted or not, will depend on the decision of the Review Committee.

Ques. Do I need to submit a Migration certificate at the time of registration?

Ans. Yes, you are required to submit Transfer/ Migration Certificate in original to the university. However, this submission is not required at the time of registration, but within 30 days from the date of admission, failing which, the admission will be cancelled.

Ques. Will I be allowed to be employed while pursuing a full-time program at the CUHP?

Ans. Full-time students of CUHP are not allowed to take up a job employment without prior approval of the university authorities. Such approval is provided to only sponsored candidates who submit an NOC from the employer stating that the concerned candidates have been granted study leave for the duration of the program and is allowed to undertake obligatory work placement towards the fulfillment of the course requirement.
