So many companies like Amazon, American Express, and JP Morgan visit Thapar to intern with students. The percentage of students getting placed is high. The placement percentage is around 98%. The average package is around 15 lacs CTC for csed. My plan after getting the degree is to pursue MBA from abroad.
The reason I chose this course was because of the packages and job opportunities given by the college. The alumni are great, the infrastructures are great (needs a little makeover). The ratio of faculty: to students is 1:30 in labs and about 1:120 in group classes. The teachers are MTech/Ph.D. graduates and the lab instructors are Ph.D. students.
From the beginning of the 4th year, students are eligible for good placements because companies start to come to our college from the end of the 3rd year. Many good companies come to our college like IITs. Some of them are- Microsoft, Arcesiym, Samsung, etc. The highest package is 40 LPA, the average package is 7 LPA and the lowest package is 5 LPA. Approximately 85-90% of students get placement from this college. So, if you are tense about your placement then don't worry if you are focused on your study for the 4 years in this college then you will get placed in good company.
From semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Companies start to come from the end of semester 6. All the big mnc's that come in IITs also come here. Names are Microsoft, DEshaw, Arcesiym, Cisco, VMware, Samsung and many more. The highest package is 43 lac as of now. The average package is 8 lac for all branches and 14 lac for CSE. 90 per cent of the students get placed from here. After getting the degree I will be working for top mnc.
I am currently in my 5th semester therefore I don't have much knowledge about placements. Currently, a lot of internship opportunities are being provided in almost all fields. The highest package and average package are usually mentioned on the college website. Students become eligible for placements after the 6th semester i.e. the fourth year.
for on-campus students get to apply for internships at the end of the second semester highest packages are near to 45 lakhs, avg package for CS is about 8 lack almost 70% of students get placed and in computer-related branches, this number is about 80%
From the 3rd semester, you are eligible for campus placements. A lot of companies do visit like Goldman Sachs etc, the highest package was like 40lpa and the lowest was like 10lpa for CS branches. The percentage of students placed was like 90%
The placements are good. The placements start from the 5th Semester. There are two types of internships which are provided on-campus, one is the Summer placements that take place during the Summer Vacation and the other is the 6-month placements. The placement ratio is very good and the average placement is also higher compared to other colleges.
Officially students can apply for placement from the second year onwards till the last year. A lot of big tech giants have visited this college every year some of them are FAANG and various startups almost more than 200 companies have visited. The highest package offered by a company is 45 LPA in 2019 and the average package is 8 LPA. Almost 95% of students get placed. I plan to Study master's after my degree.
The placements are decent at Thapar as there is an average of 8 lakh to 9 lakh per annum of the package provided during placements. Besides these some students get placements of 30 lakh above by the companies like jp Morgan, Microsoft, Amazon, etc many big companies come at that to provide internships and placements.
Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.
Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.
However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.
Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.
Thapar University offers a good MCA program. The institute has a brilliant MCA faculty base. It offers good learning resources, and laboratory facilities to meet the requirement of students.
Thapar University placement highlights show the average CTC offered to MCA students is around INR 7 LPA. While the highest CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA. TCS, Infosys, and Fidelity are among the major recruiters in the placement drive.
