Course Curriculum

8

  • It was more theoretical but if you had no background in data or computer subjects, it would be tough to understand and moreover, the course is very fast-paced.
  • Negative aspect was many topics and tools were covered but not in great depth and the assignments were more theoretical than practical
  • A positive aspect was good number of optional modules to choose from
  • Typically 2 classes are scheduled per day. Morning and evening slots depend on the slot you get. My batch has 140 students, of whom 100 were indians.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 7 universities:
    • University of Bristol: Selected
    • University of Southampton: selected
    • University of leeds : rejected
    • University of manchester:rejected
    • University of Edinburgh: rejected
    • University of Loughborough: Selected
    • University of Liverpool: Admitted
    • University of Cork: Selected
    • SRH Germany: Selected
  • The possible reason for rejection could be the requirement was not fully met. The course structure was more data science based and I had 3.5 years of work experience around data warehouses and not fully data science.
  • 2021 September intake. My process had taken only 1 month. Usually the application is out around oct 2020 but I had applied in March 2021 as I was trying for USA universities until then and I had received my decision in May. You have to book your seat by paying 1000 GBP or a partial fee. But I guess since it was covid time, the process was quick, as it might be based on the number of applications received

Faculty

8

  • 1 or 2 teachers to 140 students in class and lab, 2 teachers to 60 students. Would say that teaching methodology is sufficient but definitely can be better as we live in a very competitive society. Certifications, hackathon and industrial projects can be included.
  • There is a dedicated career cell that will help with CV building and full- and part-time job searches. There are enough part- and full-time job options available in the university itself

Campus Life

8

  • There is only one campus but soon they will be opening another campus in India (Bangalore) in 2026.
  • The university has all the major facilities, from 2 modern libraries to sports facilities and medical services and GP serives available and many student societies you can be part of. Different festivals are celebrated. Diwali and Holi are huge events as well. You can join cultural events as well and given enough exposure, depending on your interest,

Part Time Jobs

  • On a student visa, you're allowed to only work for 20 hours per week. I was a course representative. So you can be a course representative or student ambassador, and you're paid by the university. You can also apply for student advocates. On-campus jobs are good and preferred but again, it's a personal choice. I work at the LFC club and I enjoyed working there and as a course rep also.
  • Most of the time it's minimum wage per hour. Arc, indeed, is one of the few great websites for part-time jobs, which are around 11 GBP . It depends on the session; like during christmas time there are a lot of part-time job options available. The usual process is you apply through the website or submit your cv in person, and then they will contact you for a decision. Some places offer more than minimum wage.

Placement

6

  • 40% of the batch had gotten the job within 6 months of graduating. The average salary depends on the work experience you have. You can get a 26k to 29k GBp salary with 1 year of work experience. so it totally depends on years of work experience and skill you have.
  • You can apply through LinkedIn and Indeed and mainly through networking and connecting with different people. There are internship options available. I got a job in the government civil services through Linkedin. you need to be very active there. connect with different people

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I did my search online depending on my budget. Private accommodations are cheaper in the UK. I chose Europa by This is Fresh. My rent was 105 GBP per week. This accommodation was 10-15 minutes walking from the university. I did not struggle much with the booking.
  • The support team was very helpful and they provided me with discount coupons as well. I booked the room from their website and visited their instagram page to check photos and videos posted. They give good referral discounts—100 GBP per person i guess.

Exams

  • GMAT,IELTS primarily IELTS
  • Yes, you need a Statement of purpose and CV to highlight past work experience, and there was no interview process. The process might have changed over the years. The process was different during COVID times. Past work experience plays a huge role in highlighting your application and extracurriculars. Check the website for the latest rules and the process

Fees

  • In 2021 university fee was 24,000 GBP
  • I decided to stay in private accommodation, as that was cheaper, so it was around 5000 GBP annually. 105 GBP per week was my rent; food and other expenses depend on your lifestyle. Many expenses apart from rent were 200-300 GBP .
  • Buses are usually 2 GBp for every ride but almost everywhere you get student discounts. Make sure to carry your student ID everywhere. restaurants buses shops you get 10-15% student discounts.

Scholarship

  • Yes, there are many scholarships. I received a scholarship of around 4000 GBP but if you apply early, as soon as the forms are out, there are good chances of getting a 100% scholarship.
  • I joined during covid times so there was little financial help given to students travelling to universities abroad. My friend had received 1000 GBP of financial help from Adar Poonawalla for students arriving in the UK.
