What Students Say
Likes
- Friendly staff.
- Student support throughout the campus.
- Many events to help unfold the students talents other than studies.
Dislikes
- Mass lectures combining other students.
- Using one student from every course to represent.
- Class representatives were selected without getting into others notice.
Course Curriculum
- I would describe my course difficulties on a scale of 10 i would rate 8
- I had a mix of theoretical lectures and practical lectures and also exam-orientated lectures.
- The positive aspect of my course is that it is very easy to understand and implement in your exams and assignments.
- The negative aspect is the course is too basic; every subject has basic contents and nothing deep.
- There used to be 2-3 lectures per day and the time varies day to day.
- Total there were 200 students in my course but only 80-90 students attended the lectures daily.
- Most of them were Indians in my class.
Admission Experience
- Thankfully, I have received offer letters from all the universities I have applied to.
- I have received offers from :
- University of Liverpool
- University of Leeds
- University of Surrey
- Manchester Metropolitan University
- University of Cardiff
- I have never been rejected from any other universities so I'm not eligible to answer the last question.
- I chose the University of Liverpool because I heard the city is student-friendly and I received the scholarship of £4000.
- Admission process was simple I had to fill in the application form with my resume, SOP, LOR and my 12th English marks.
- You need to have more than 80+ marks in your 12th or else an IELTS Band of 6.5-7.
- In my experience, the admission process was really smooth and easy.
- I applied in the year 2022 and I wanted to explore a new place and get exposure. that's the reason I moved to the United Kingdom.
- The admission process from applying to admission took me around 4 months.
- I applied for the university in Jan and I received the offer in March and I accepted the offer in April, considering all the factors like city, safety, Scholarship and the discussion I had with the students.
Faculty
- Many professors were very interactive and responsive to the email within a day and few assistant professors were not that responsive.
- I would say whatever they teach ultimately depends on you and how you study and implement it in your assignments and exams; they won't spoon-feed the content to students. And no, they will not prepare you for the job market.
- Professor Gotkis from International Business.
Campus Life
- There is one main campus called guild and the buildings are surrounded by the city.
- There are 2 libraries; 1 museum; a sports hall; a swimming pool; and a study space for students, which can be booked online.
- There are many clubs in the university, like Hindu society, Musical band, Sports team, etc.
- There are many events planned through societies every week, every month and can attend everything by registering, for example each and every festival is celebrated in Indian society
Part Time Jobs
- I would say 5-6 in 100 and those are mostly taken by representatives.
- The pay range would be the minimum pay range fixed by the government.
- There are many other jobs available, like barista, food joints like McDonald's, Five guys, burger king and also there are many hospitality jobs and warehouse jobs around the city.
- 20 hrs is the legal work permit. I have not tried getting a job on the campus because my main focus was on my course.
- Typically one would earn £11.4-£14 in part-time work, and you can work for 20 hrs per week. Getting a part-time job is easy through references and job sites like indeed and total jobs and also you can check out the company pages for part-time roles. Just search for the desired job, fill in the application and upload your CV and you will get a call from the recruiter. usually there won't be a tough interview process for part-time jobs.
Placement
- As of now the job market is down and as a fresher, getting a job is difficult, having some experience before moving abroad is very important.
- Starting basic salary would be £24000.
- I would suggest applying for the jobs in the second semester so you can secure an internship or graduate program roles and having experience in the same field is very beneficial to secure a job easily.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation through Amber Student found out about through a WhatsApp group
- I was staying in a studio apartment which cost me £650 per month; I had a separate kitchen to myself.
- I found my accommodation easily because I booked it early. If you are looking for student accommodation in Liverpool, you can check out Vita students.
- My accommodation was 20 minutes walkable distance and most of the Indians stayed in Europa accommodation.
Exams
- To get into The University of Liverpool, you require 80+ marks in your 12th or else an IELTS band of 6.5-7, depending upon the course.
- The documents that were necessary were a CV, SOP, LOR, marks card from the degree and the degree completion certificate and also £1000 paid for the confirmation of the seat to convert the conditional offer to an unconditional offer.
- Interview was not a part of the selection process.
