Dislikes
- No non veg in mess. The meals are not properly balanced nutritionally
- Only 3 outpasses a month. College should not control the amount of out passes I want to taken
- Uniform culture. It's a very old practice and should not be followed for adults in modern era. They expect us to act like adults when treating us like childrrn
Course Curriculum Overview
I love computer science. The computer science program here is still ancient focusing on rote learning than practicality. The CSE course is designed to teach you ML by 3rd year but what's the point if they don't teach skills necesserary to get a job. CIR helps but only teaches you how to crack interviews but not skills required for jobs
Internships Opportunities
Don't know much about this. Companies I mean most come here internship you will get it you maintain good cgpa and have barely enough skills since no one teaches you that To get the good ones you ofcourse need both skills and cgpa
Placement Experience
5th sem we become eligible for college placements. The companies and other details I don't have much idea. Percentage as well but I think it's around 60 percent of who get placed. Offers are pretty low since the market is down
Fees and Financial Aid
At Amrita, the tuition fee varies according to the scholarship slab allotted through entrance exam performance (AEEE, JEE, etc.). I am in Scholarship Slab 3, where my tuition fee is ?4,00,000 per year. In addition, the hostel and mess fee is ?1,00,000 per year, making my total yearly expense ?5,00,000. Over the complete 4-year course, the total comes to about ?20,00,000. For students without any scholarship (management/general quota), the tuition fee is ?6,00,000 per year. With the hostel fee of ?1,00,000, their yearly cost comes to ?7,00,000, and the complete course costs around ?28,00,000. Other scholarship slabs also exist (Slab 1 and Slab 2), where tuition fees are lower depending on the student’s entrance exam rank. These slabs significantly reduce the tuition burden for high performers
Campus Life
We have Gokulasthami cultural festival as a inter department competition then anokha and pragati. Library is extensive having ebooks and physical books. Having almost the latest editions for most books. Sports and extra curriculars are great as well with most facilities here
Hostel Facilities
Rooms for freshers are way better but the hostels for seniors is very bad. Limited western toilets (only 1). Very poor looking bathrooms. Meals arent great just enough to get by. PG's nearby are still maintained by old fashioned people so hostel is way better option
Admission
I applied to other colleges like VIT and did give my JEE. I did get into VIT but I was getting pure cse here so I came to Amrita. Admission process is pretty straightforward just follow the emails you receive from the.
Faculty
Faculty to student ration is actually really good. Most faculties are friendly and approachable. Some faculties are very strict and you will have to walk around them as if walking on egg shells As for exams there are 2 main exams. Mid sem and end sem Between these exams we have class tests which also makeup your final cgpa
Night Life
There are enough gym, canteen and library. Campus is close so it's all public area for students. Hostel timings are liberal being at 10pm for boys. Hangout spots are just canteens mostly, other than that it's usually the library
