What Students Say
Likes
- The campus size is quite big , so it's pretty fun to wander around .
- The placements(specifically in my branch) is pretty good compared to the other engineering colleges.
- There are good research oppurtunities for student interested in research.
Dislikes
- The fees is too high being a government college which is increasing every year.
- The college has an 85% delhi quota which makes it a less diverse compared to NITs and IITs.
- The gender ratio is too poor , compared to other colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
For now I won't say that it is too relevant , but yes , they are changing it , some new courses are getting introduced in place of the older ones , so it is a good sign. But the teaching methodology is still a bit old school , like they most of the professors uses white board , some of them use projectors , but I think it would be better if they use smart boards . Exams happens two times in a semester , one is mid sem happening in mid of the semster and then there is end sem exam happening at the end of the semster. Difficulty level is from easy to intermediate.
Internships Opportunities
Being in 1st year , we don't get to know a lot about internships , So I can't say a lot . The on campus internships starts from 3rd year onwards , which as I have heard gets a little competitive. Students gets stipend from 10000 INR a month to 100000 INR a month depending on your skills and the company.
Placement Experience
Being in 1st year only , the exact stats of placements are not disclosed to us as they are confidential . I will tell you what I know, this year almost 70% students got placed from our branch(i.e. Computer Science) with an average salary of arounf 20 LPA and highest being around 70 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees gradually increases every year. For us , in 1st year it was 2,36,700 INR , in 2nd year it will be 2,46,700 INR , in 3rd year it will be 2,66,700 and in 4th year it will be 2,86,700 INR . There are separeate fees for hostel and mess. Now coming to the fee waivers , there is no such fee waiver for reserved categories , but one can easily appply for scholarships which gets approved easily.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty good here . The campus is spread across an area of around 150 acres , so that's pretty big . You get to learn so many things here . Events takes place quite frequently thorughout the year . There is an annual fest "Engifest" were popular artists comes and perform , students from different colleges attend this fest . Libraries is also good here , you will get most of the books here . In exam time , it gets a little crowded , but it is quite spatious the rest time. We have a massive sports complex , where almost every kinds of sports facilities are available be it indoor or outdoor . There are plenty of clubs where one can join depending on their interests.
Hostel Facilities
I live in Hostel provided by our college . In 1st year , we are alloted non AC hostels , while in 2nd year onwards , we get to choose between AC and non AC hostel . In hostel , we are provided with basic stuffs such as, bed, chair, study table, almirah, curtains etc. There are limited hostel rooms , so hostel are alloted on the basis of your distance of college from you home. So , here outside delhi students gets the upper hand . The mess quality is pretty bad , even after numerous complaints , it doesn't gets better , but then one gets used to it.
Admission
There were plenty of reasons for me to chose this college , it is located in Delhi , it had a beautiful campus , the placements were too good , reasearch oppurtuinities were good and many more. Other than this college , I wanted to get into IITs , but my JEE Advanced wasn't enough to get a decent IIT with a decent branch . So DTU was the best option for me. To get into this college , one need to give an entrance exam "JEE Main" and need to have a good score to get a good branch .
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 70:1. Some professors are quite approachable , you can go to them anytime and ask your doubts , but there are some professors who are a complete opposite . Sorry I can't name the faculties. So in our college , a semester lasts for around 6 months where we have 1 mid sem and 1 end sem examination , the level of the exams are easy to intermediate. The course curriculam is getting better and becoming more relevant .
Night Life
I think that's the part of your college , specially for the hostelers , like me , we can roam around the campus anytime be it late in the night . For boys , there are no hostel timings but girls are not allowed outside the hostel after 11 PM . The campus timing is for everyone which is 11-12 PM . The most popular hangout spot is the open air theatre , which is based on the middle of our campus , that place is pretty happening thorughout the day. Plenty of options for food places are there inside the college only , we have domino's , nescafe , bistro , local canteens and many more.
