- The mess food is little bit disappointing considering the college and it’s reputation.
- The campus is very far from city which leads to transportation problems
- The gender ratio is very bad approximately 1:4, with girls being very few in number.
Course Curriculum Overview
As expected from a typicall engineering collage though the courses here are designed to be of real world applications and industry oriented but I still feel that there is a scope of lot of improvement. Instead of giving assignments that are solely based on cramming the collage should focus on more practical methodology of testing students. The Frequency of exams is usually once in 2 weeks for a course, with difficulty level of moderate to difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Internship scenarios in our collage are very good. Speaking of my branch most of the students got a paid internship. Internships takes place on campus in the 5th semester in the 3rd year with companies such as smartron, Goldman sacs, Amazon, Microsoft appearing for internships.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placement from the 7th semester in the 4th year. The companies which visited the collage during placement season includes, Google, Accenture, Amazon, Microsoft,Goldman Sach's, Flipkart, TSMC etc. the highest package of IITH for 2023 was 90 LPA and the lowest package is 6.25 LPA. The placement percentage is 74.90% and the number of recruiters is 335 and the number of students placed is 570. I am currently planning to peruse MTech in biotechnology and aim to become a professor.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Year wise fees charged by iit Hyderabad is ?2,86,154 per annum which translates to ?1,43,077 per semester. The Tution fees per semester include ?1,00,000 registration fees is ?4,000 and the joining fees, development fees and lab fees are ?0. The mess fees includes ?16577 per semester and the hostel expense is ?15,000 per semester. One of my friend who belongs to the ST category has full waiver on Tution fees. So his fees per annum is roughly 1,04,154. He also got the NSP scholarship which is roughly ?86,000.
Campus Life
The collage fests include Milan,DIESTA,Elan N vision. These fests include wide range of sports and cultural activities between inter hostel, inter departmental level. The IITH library is huge and includes maximum resources that are sufficient for a student. Classrooms are equipped with top notch technologies and include digital smart boards and technology enabled learning. The sports facilities are also great. The SNCC which is the new sports complex of Iith provides world class facilities includes a spacious gym and a swimming pool.
Hostel Facilities
Since the hostels are newly constructed they are neat and clean. For the first years there is double sharing rooms and for the second year onwords we have double sharing rooms. To bear the scorching heat of IIT Hyderabad we have radiant cooling in our hostels which is a saviour for summers. Though hostels are good but they are on a bit pricy side which is the only drawback. The mess food is a little bit disappointing. Though hygiene and nutritional standards are well met but most of the students complain about the bad and repetitive taste.
Admission
I had applied for different collages like IIT Guwahati and IIT Kharagpur, but I didn't joined because of geographical issues. Since I belong to Andhra Pradesh IIT Hyderabad is most favourable location wise and also I am impressed with its infrastructure and quality of education it provides. Since I got a rank of 8412 rank I was rejected by IIT Kharagpur due to rank issues. The eligibility of the collage is that after u have qualified your jee advanced exam you have to apply for jossa counselling and once selected by collage, a particular date would be given like for me it was 24 July 2023.
Faculty
The faculty to student ration in IIT Hyderabad is 1:14. Which is a great number and every student is able to get personalised attention. My favourite faculties are Dr. Himanshu Joshi and Dr. Savita Devi of biotechnology department as they make the classes interactive and helps the students to grasp hard concepts easily. Though I like most of the faculties but, Dr Saurabh and Dr. Jyoti as they don't pay attention to students. The course curriculum is appt and appropriate. Exams usually happen in 3 phases mid sem, end sem and quizzes. Out of a batch of 100, 5-6 people usually fail in the course.
Night Life
The night life of IIT Hyderabad is great. Since we there is no restriction on students and no curfew timings for hostels students usually roam in the campus till 4AM in the morning. Most of the cafés and canteens are open till 2 AM in the morning. Library is also open till late in the night. Till 2 Am. Famous spots to hangout in the campus includes IITH guest house lake, Isthara, and the open air theatre.
