Placement part was bad, as well as the college is situated outside the city.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum covers various engineering topics from Basic Electrical, Thermo Dynamics, Electrical, Electronics, Strength of Materials, to refregeration, Engine room experience, and live experience on engine hauling and other jobs in engine room

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 225000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Annual fee was Rs. 225000.00 Annual fee is all inclusive of Tution fee, registration fee, development fee, lab fee and all the other fees. We had program fee of Rs. 25000.00 My batch mates from B. Sc Nautical science was also same Rs. 225000.00

Campus Life

Being in Tamil Nadu w used to celebrate all the festivals of Tamil nadu, as being from Kerala we used to celebrate all the festivals of Kerala. Being a multi diversity college with people from different state, we used to celebrate everything

Admission

The primary reason for the course is love to go on Sea, The reason for this college is based on fees and being affiliated to central government university. The fees were leess compared to other colleges offering similar course

Faculty

We were 40 in each batch with 4 years of course, we had seperate faculties for each subjects, Faculties were either chief Engineers who came after sailing or Class 2, Class 3 Engineers with ample experience in sea. The class were fun filled with realtime experiences from the faculties from Sea.

Night Life

We have Gym, library, public gathering places, Hostel had timing like we have to enter the hostel before 9PM in the evening. we used to have roll call everydy in the morning 6 AM and 9 PM. On Sundays w had only evening calls

Placement Experience:

At our college students get placed during the 7th semester as from August to December companies keep coming and also do they give us jobs based on roles that they have and what we want. Either way it's a win win for students only because getting placed through campus in top corporate houses is a novelty.

I am in my final year and this is also our placement year. So IT engineering branch doesn't have placements as good as CSE or AI&DS but still we have a placement percentage of over 80%. Avarage package of our branch is currently 6 lakhs around.

Pros and cons of IMU Chennai

Actually I wanted to go to ts chanakya navu Mumbai campus it's better than imu chennai for bsc but that time I didn't know how to apply for counselling and I put imu chennai over ts chanakya on my preference list so I got imu chennai.I gave the exam in 2023 that time my rank was 1431 ews category so I would've easily got ts chanakya in first list but I thought chennai is the head quarters so it must be better.For being eligible for imu colleges you must have a score of 60% avg in pcm in 12th and. 70% in English in 10th and 12th .You must clear IMU-CET exam and after that apply for counseling process . After that if you are medically fit just go to the college verify your passport and other documents and there you go....!!!...Read More

Marine Education In India

Admission process is based on a national level entrance examination called imu common entrance test.course eligibility is plustwo pcm above 70 ft or btech and above 60 for bsc nautical science programm.entrance test include plustwo pcm and general knowledge plus aptitude and english.The placement rate in imu Chennai campus attracted me very much by providing 100 percent placement and the facilities and faculties available there is the best in the field...Read More
