Raiyan Dibaji's Review On Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi

Remarks :

I chose this college because i asked around and heard nothing but good remarks about Jamia Hamdard, its infrastructure, students, college life, fests, culture etc. The tuition fee for my course (BtECE) was also not that much compared to other colleges. I applied for a few handfull of colleges, some rejected some selected. Like i applied for srm chennai and got selected also but didnt go because i wanted to stay in delhi and pursue engeneering. i also got selected for jaypee noida but since its tuition fee was a little high i chose not to go. I did however unfortunately got rejected from jmi/nsut/dtu because of my rank in jee. The admission process for Jamia Hamdard was pretty smooth, i filled in the application form which i easily got from admission portal online and awaited results. A few weeks later i recieved an email for counselling which i filled and after another few weeks i got a email that ive been selected along with the list. A few dats later i got another email for document verification. The induction programmes were also very entertaining and educational during the first few weeks of Jamia Hamdard.

Course Curriculum Overview :

There are around 40-45 students in my class currently and out of this there 13-15 are girls so i guess the ratio is 3:1 in favor of boys. If i talk about the overall college, there are definately more girls in different departments like pharma etc so i will assume the boys to girl ratio is almost 50-50. Most of the students are muslim but that doesnt affect the cultural diversity of the class. Some students are from kashmir some are from kerela some from asaam, basically all over india. Some students are also from foreign countries like iran, malaysia, saudi etc.

Internships Opportunities :

Im in 1st year so i dont really have an idea about the internship system but im pretty sure most of the students get paid internship from college if not they find a company theirselves for a paid internship. The average placement lpa is around 3-4lpa ctc with highest going around 12lpa

Placement Experience :

Not everyone is fortunate is enough to be placed but some do get placement from hamdard. Median ctc offered is around 5lpa. Most students have to go look for jobs but the ones that do get offered are around 10-20

Fees and Financial Aid :

The per sem fee of Btech ece is around 95000. First sem fee has some extra one time payements like enrolment fee, admission fee, library deposit, alumini fund. Hamdard also does provide hostel and mess facilities to students. Its not a alot of money which is ideal for students. Apart from tuition fee, there are various other expenses such as for students like me who get to college thru metro/auto etc and then having lunch at canteens. All these costs are minimal. The college does provide scholarship to students on the basis of cgpa in end sem exams, it can vary from 10-30% from total tuition fee.

Campus Life :

The infrastructure is amazing to say the least with cricket grounds to football grounds to gym etc. The auditorium has been recently rebuilt and is looking better than ever with a big stage, centralised ac, soft cushioned seats, the back stage is also good. There is a central library on 3rd floor of the building and it is very good for students who want a break from the outside loud world. The library is in two sections, one is walk in free for all and one is for paid members. These members get ac, more comfortable seats, even quiter and peacefull workstation, free issue of books etc. The college campus overall is too big to explore on foot (which is a good thing). Most students are seen using two wheelers or even four wheelers to get from one place to another. The campus is filled with greenery amd scenic views. Even the air feels fresher because of the abundant amounts of green trees present almost everywhere in campus. The overall campus life is amazing, our classes end by 5:30 and we roam around the campus for around an hour and a half and leave when it starts getting dark which is around 7:30. Even then we see a good few students roaming around still which i assume must be from hostel. Some canteens do stay open till night around 8-9PM for hostel students and for others as well. The most common spot for hangout is i would say the canteen right in front of the Buisness Management building (bba). During break around 1-1:30pm most of the students are found there cus its spacious and their food is also very delicious. Even during night time it is completely safe to roam around inside the campus because there are guards almost 24/7 keeping an eye for anything fishy. There is not a big fest culture here but still its good. There are plenty of clubs and commitees in Hamdard with few being ieee, uba, coding ninjas etc

Hostel Facilities :

I personally dont have a lot of idea about the hostel system since i dont live in one but ive heard from friends that it is good. There are hostels accomodation inside the campus aswell as near the college like down the road which are not as good but good enough for students who didnt get rooms in hostels inside college. I believe it is a first come first serve sort of system regarding rooms in hostels inside the campus. The students do have to submit 10,000 rupees as security deposit for the hostel. The annual fee for girls only and boys only hostels is around 65-85k rupees along with the mess food including ac, water supply, electricity bill etc. The hostel which my friend loves in has a double seater sharing room meaning he shares his room with a single roomate. The room is provided with an AC, almirah, bed frame with matress, bedside table with drawers. There are two common washroom on each floor shared by 8 people which is cleaned everyday. There is also a showerhead on each floor. There is a designated area on the ground floor where breakfast/lunch/dinner is served on appropriate timings. Some students who dont take hostels live in rented flats or wth their relatives etc. Most students are local to delhi and normally live in their house.

Exam Structure :

The admission process as i mentioned before is smooth as ever so is the counselling process. After our name pops up in the selection list we get a mail for physical document verification in under a few days and after that is done again after a few days we got our schedules, sections and time tables with a date of commencement of classes. Since im in Btech course the JEE Mains exam is most preferred by the students and above 75-80 percentile is what i believe a safe score to get admission into any btech course here.

Faculty :

Course is easy and curriculum is also good but is little bit advance according to coming technological World. Yes mostly all pass but some rare students fail. Good is that's it's new combination of bbas & computer science and its good for future. Bad is that's there is unnecessary subject in the course which create little bit annoying and hectic in between main subjects( according to me ). Teaching methodology are combined smart boards and normal boards but mainly content on PDFs and all online stuff. Meenakari Ahlawat ma'am I admire the most yes she left the college now but today I feel why see was so strict and why she always tell us to study for future not for now . Yes minimum 60% very important for attendance and 75% as normal mandatory. If comes below 60% you will detend by semester and some fine which I don't know how much.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is inefficient and ineffective in building real lawyers. Simply mugging up case laws is not enough to be a lawyer. There's a serious need for du to fix its curriculum and examination tactics. They should really reconsider this.

For placements at VIPS, are not God level but no less too. Every student here gets a chance to intern with top law firm and then either get to work with them or corporate houses like Aditya Birla Group, Johnson & Johnson and HUL among others are the private players who sign us with an average annual package of 8.25 lakhs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course curriculum is not so good like it has to be a little bit easy because students come directly from school and the syllabus of college should be in relevance to the school curriculum in school we have been taught basic ncert books in college we are supposed to make reasearch papers and discuss on them suddenly very broad concepts come of which students get blank eventually one has to study themselves for good cgpa no examination scheme is explained by the teachers, even nothing is being informed about this
