- The faculty is really knowledgeable and unlike the BHU campus, professors actually take class regularly and teach diligently.
- College holds various extracurricular programs like research presentations, seminars and i also participated in designing the department magazine. Almost all departments publish their magazines anually or bi-annually.
Dislikes
- The campus used to be a little shabby but recently their has been rigorous renovation so that is solved. Campus needs a bit more daily maintenance of the gardens and ground.
- Canteen is unhygeinic and has a limited variety of food. Half the time, they are out of many items on menu.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course covers all the main topics of UGC NET exam, hence my reason for choosing it. Like i said, if you study your syllabus well, you are decently prepared for half the competetive exams relevant to the field out there. Teachers could also have a more digital inclusive approach to teaching, referring to e-material out there. They happen once every semester. So that would be twice or thrice a year almost. They are moderate in terms of difficulty. One can easily sweep through them if they study well in the preparatory breaks. That much is enough to score decently.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tution fee: 250 Registration: 0 Academic assessment fee: 500 Admission form fee:150 Paid seat fees: 15000 I got admission through paid seat so i paid around 24000. For a person who gets admission through normal seat in UR category, they have to pay around 10000. People from SC/ST category paid around 9000. There are several scholarships available but its mostly for bachelors students and especially for students from sanskrit and home science department. Some scholarshios are:- Shrimati Rasha Sinha Scholarship, Shrimati Leelavati Devi award, Lt. Sushil Narayan Dubey Award, Lt. Ramnath Vyas Scholarship, Lt. Prabha Ramnath Vyas Scholarship.
Campus Life :
Annual fest is Sarjana. Usually held in february. This college's library is a hidden gem. It has great and rare books as well. If one is a learner, they will have a great time coursinv through the books of the library. Its even better than main campus. Faculty hand picks the books for the library to be ordered. Classrooms are lacking in infrastructure. No white boards in one building while the other one has them. And rarely you will find projectors or smart boards. Sports activities are also limited. If you want to play a game, getting the sport equipment permit frkm office is a hassle. There are several clubs like Electoral Literacy Clubs which functions well and hold events almost every month. Other clubs like Eco Talk, Ocean Shell are also there. They allow students to geta reprieve from repetitive motions of attending classes and do some fun and educational activities for a break.
Admission :
I applied in Delhi university and received confirmation from P.G.D.A.V college. But i picked BHU Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya because i have heard Masters course in DU is not thta interactive and classes are not held properly. My friend is studying the same course from DU and she has to reach 1 hour early for class To get enrolled in MA Political Science course one needs to attain a score between 120-200 in CUET Political Science and should have passed graduation in same subject and earned more than 60%.
Faculty :
Faculty to student ratio is really skewed. Our department only has 5 teachers. And while MA class only has about 40 students in one batch, BA classes sometimes have more than 200 students per batch so its hard for faculty to pay equal attention to all students. Other than that, faculty is really friendly and attentive. They are frank and really approachable. All five teachers are great, at least in our department. I cant say the same about other departments. I have heard scary things from Sanskrit department students that their teachers are really rude, mean and sometimes even judge their clothes. But political science department has sweet and attentive teachers. They are rarely ever angry and always chill and friendly. There is only one exam at the end of each semester. The exam in itself isnt tough.
Night Life :
No gym in this college. Cafeteria doesnt have hygeinic food or a nice sitting area. Its out in the open with no fans and sometimes monkeys attack for food if you eat sitting there. Campus timings are from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening. No famous hangout places inside. But there is Dashashmedh ghat near the college and a great reprieve. You can also visit mandirs nearby or enjoy south indian food on Luxa.
