Remarks

The environment of the college can be helpful as it motivates you to pursue any sport or career and any goals one has. As this is a residential university the students have to stay in campus but there are transport facilities provided for free till metro stations. Also the classes sometimes can take place very late even at night as the students stay in campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In Shiv Nadar University we get to choose our own courses every start of the semester except the very first semester. Courses are provided by default based on your program. Here the Bsc program is a 4 year program and the 4th year is dedicated to the research in your specific field eg. Chemistry in my case. Here we have the freedom to choose courses from programs other than ours eg. I'm doing an eco course this semester and if one does many courses from the same program they can get a minor degree in that. So if I a chemistry student does 4-5 Eco courses I can have a major in chemistry and minor in economics. The no. Of hours of study in a subject depends on the credits. Eg. 3 credit course mean 3 hours per week. Here the exam structure is different for course to course as it depends on the faculty. But it's mainly a mid sem exam (exam in between the semester) and an end sem exam. The total marks should be 100. The teacher can give tests, quizzes, assignment or presentation in between. Every semester end there is a GPA calculation and the avg. Of all GPA a CGPA is calculated starting from 2nd semester.

Placement Experience

4

There is a high placement percentage but this is mostly for engineering and management students. The humanities and natural sciences mostly go for higher studies or take a preparatory gap for various competitive exams. The highest stipend of year 2017-2018 is 15.5 LPA. There are total 234 employment partners. The last year's placement percentage is 85% The college also provides internship and part time job opportunities on campus. These are called OCJs or On campus job. They are provided through for different different posts like Teaching assistant, marketing, etc. The stipend can change but it's mostly Rs. 50/hour. One can work 20 hours a week Maximum when college is going on and during vacations 40 hours a week.

College Events

4

There are many events that take place in our college but the main ones are the Inter-college fest called Breeze and the Intra-college fest. Other than these many events take place depending on the festival coming up. Eg. Holi celebration, Diwali celebration, Pongal celebration, etc. Also there is flag hosting and celebration on Independence day and Republic day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is a bit on the high side but during admission most students are provided with scholarships. The laundry and mess fees is compulsory to pay, which is every semester. The fees is different for different different programs. The school of engineering has higher fees than other programs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarships are provided to all the students at the time of enrollment. The amount of scholarship provided are based on the score of the two exams during admission process i.e., SNUSAT and APT. The scholarships are provided till your graduation. There is a minimum CGPA requirement to keep the scholarship which changes every year. For our batch it is 6.5 CGPA.

Campus Life

5

The labs are one of the best in India as a chemistry student I get hands on experience with many equipments that are normally used in masters program. For sports there is a separate complex solely for different sports both indoor and outdoor. Chess, carrom, scrabble, pool, fussball, TT etc. In outdoor sports Volleyball, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Squash, Basketball, Badminton, etc. Swimming pool aren't provided yet. There are various cultural and technical clubs for activities like Dancing, music, photography, drama, etc. They are very active and the students other than club members can also take part in various events.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Shiv Nadar University is a residential university hence everybody needs to stay inside the college campus and opting for hostels outside isn't allowed. The hostels are pretty good considering cleanliness. The facilities are just average. But it also depends on the hostel provided as you get different hostel in different years. It is compulsory to stay in hostel which 4 roommates in first year and the no. Become 2 per room in 2nd and third year and single in 4th year. There is pantry with microwave, hot and cold drinking water, study room! TT rooms, yoga and TV rooms, etc.

Alumni/Alumna

There are frequent talks with alumni which are held in our college and also the seniors and juniors are close as there are various activity in the starting of program which brings the seniors close. Also there is no ragging at all in the college. The new students are provided student mentor who are there seniors to help them with various activities and resolve any queries.

Faculty

4

The faculty of a Shiv Nadar University is one of the best. The professors are highly qualified and have years of experience in their respective fields. One of the best thing about the faculty is that if one has a doubt they can easily approach the teachers.
