Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is good. But the execution and the faculty is where you will have to suffer. On paper, the structure provide a good grasp and choices for subjects. But considering the faculty, you will not be learning much as the pacing and the content of the course is not appropriate considering the length of a semester. But for the select few Electives where you will have visiting faculty from industry, you might actually learn from the classes and the course. But that is also a bit and miss sort of situation.
Internships Opportunities :
For my batch, not much has happened until out final year. As mentioned prior, we had to resort to finding opportunities for ourselves by ourselves. But final year, atleast some opportunities have came, however not that good. But I do see junior batches getting much better opportunities from big Names like Adobe that offer 100000 per month stipend to students for the roles they offered.
Placement Experience :
Since is am from the 4th Batch of the college, the opportunities are not that much for on campus placement. However it might be presented on online brochures of the college, the ground reality is really different. In the end, our batch has to be self reliant for finding employment and opportunities on our own.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My annual fees for my 4 years in college range from 214000 to 250000. Each year the fees would increase by about 20 percent. I am writting this as a general category student without any reservations or scholarships, etc. For reserved category, the fees can range from 140000 to 180000 (approx). For scholarships, there are financial aids provided to a select few of around 75000 to students annually. And other merit based scholarships like NTSE clearing student scholarships is also applicable here. Considering the fees in other colleges and schools for Design in India, This college comes under much affordable options.
Campus Life :
From anyone you can listen you, DTU will be praised by their social aspect and peer learning. There are a lot of stuff happening in college through out the year. From a day scholar's perspective who travels a lot, I had to miss out on a lot of stuff due to commute. But if you can get a PG, Flat or Hostel, you will enjoy your college life much more.
Admission :
The process for getting in was through UCEED. And after I have already been admitted to DTU for the course, I got a seat in spot round from IITDM Jabalpur. But considering the opportunity I will get by staying in Delhi, I chose DTU. If you are fine learning and experimenting stuff on your own and really prefer a Real life learning experience, I would say DTU is better but if you prefer the course over that, since IIITDM Jabalpur course is monitored by IIT Bombay, the course there is better.
Faculty :
For Design there are mainly 2 Sections with about 60 students each. Classes are just one person day which includes lecture, workshop and studio hours. Select few Faculty are really good and will teach appropriately but majority of them are not that good or supportive in general. If you come to this college, you might Encounter prof. Neeraj Rathee and Partha Pratima Das that you might enjoy studying and working alongside with. You might get along with Prof. Ravindra if you are from Industrial Design And in other scenario, avoid Taruna, Shraddha, and Awani as your Professor as they have a big bias for a select few students all the time. And maybe you will directly be targetted by them for no apparent reason. Exams here are easy, I must say. You do not have to prepare much as they will be practical based and if not, then you will have not so difficult questions. Main weightage is given to your Jury and Final project presentation as those projects will be the one where you'll learn the most from.
