One of the best colleges in India for pharma

Remarks :

The best college in terms of everything. There was nothing which was short of anything, except words. Best exposure, best teachers, best placement, best people, food too. Management consists of students too- quick in taking necessary actions even if slightest thing goes wrong. There are special committees for girls, like sexual harassment committee to safeguard girls

Course Curriculum Overview :

The main advantage of studying here is overall development. Everything is fair and depends only on your hard work. I initially had to struggle because it was the first time I was staying away from home and the amount of hard work required was tremendously high. But eventually, I started enjoying my hectic labs, research work for project and I loved how I was contributing for society by working on anti cancer medicine. I have learnt everything here - not just pharma, ofcourse that is the main thing though, but time management, stress management, enjoying work, everything. It was just great.

Placement Experience :

In Pharma, nearly 8-9 companies visited in our third semester of masters degree for placement. 18 students out of 21 are placed in our class. The major companies include Cipla, Dr. Reddy's, Pharma Ace, Aurigene, Pfizer etc. Their were special placement sessions conducted to prepare students, with mock interviews and to remove their fear. This is our last semester and we are provided internships by college in great companies. I am myself interning at IQVIA, Bangalore.

College Events :

Pearl (cultural fest), ATMOS (technical fest), ARENA (sports fest) and other small events. Pearl is a great event with budgets in lakhs. Guests like Vishal - Shekhar, Farhan Akhtar are invited to perform, and Vicky Kaushal for talks. Also, other esteemed guests include people at major positions in government. The participation of college is large, students work day and night. I myself was a part of Hindi Tarang club and wrote plays for Atmos last year. It was a great success. In arena, other bits campuses (pilani and goa ) are invited, along with IIT hyderabad, IBS etc. Games like volleyball, tennis, football, cricket, frisbee, basketball, chess all are played fairly.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure can be regarded as a bit expensive. But it is worth it and there are loan options available. The fee is almosr 2.5 lakh per semester, including all charges (hostel and all). The college provides a fee slip in which every expenditure us written.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

College gives MCN to economically backward students, based on CG and parent's income. Since I am a masters student and this is only for bachelor's students, I don't have much idea regarding it. Though the facility of education loan is available in SBI also, located inside the campus itself. I didn't opt for any loan though.

Campus Life :

Campus is beautiful, life is beautiful. It has gym, Activity center, games etc. The campus is aesthetic and healthy too. Only faculty and PhD students can bring vehicles inside campus, making it cleaner and reduce pollution. Gender ratio is not as less as in other engineering colleges. pharma has more girls than boys. In mpharm, my stream, we were 14 girls, 7 boys. People from all over country are there with no biasedness. Even international students come there are befriend everyone. There is no differentiation as in a person is from north or south or east or west. All are same all are friends. I had a group full of marathis and I was lucky I could learn marathi too. That's the beauty. I am teaching punjabi to my friends. The economic status varies. Rich to poor, everyone is here and it does not matter. Clubs and departments too take you based on your talents. Labs are clean, ans full of knowledge gaining equipments. Debates, quizzes etc are held very frequently. Library is full of books not only of subjects in course, but all over the world. You can choose whatever interests you. And the library is so beautiful that you would want to study there for the whole day. Students in terms of robotics are so talented that they are making drones on their own Moreover, pharma deppt of my college has maximum patents in india in this domain. Whatever I say falls less of words

Hostel Facilities :

Yes, the girls hostels are single room hostels. Only fresher girls get sharing room (new hostel, Vishkarma bhawan) There are 2 girls hostel - meera and malviya, and the upper most floor of vishkarma is also for girls (from 2019 only it started). Boys have almost 6-7 hostels - Vyas, Valmiki, Ram, Gautam, Budh, Vishkarma etc.

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors are extremely helpful in everything. They want us to succeed. Alumni network is strong. There is a group called 'BITSIANs for each other'. Whenever we need anyone to help us, we can always rely on alumni. They'll help not just professionally, but personally too

Admission :

I did my Bachelors in pharmacy, and was always inclined towards Research. BITS is one of the best options for that. I didnot randomly make this decision, but talked to many seniors regarding same. The labsthe equipments, teachers, everything is just perfect. Moreover, we get a complete exposure also interacting with people from engineering stream too. I have never regretted my decision of coming here. There is just so much to learn. The admission process is 2 way - either entrance based or GPAT based. Though I have my GPAT cleared, yet I chose entrance test, I got it cleared. The test was held in May, around 22nd and consisted on questions from all subjects of pharma- pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacognosy and chemistry. English and maths questions were included too. We got the result in a few weeks, and I was selected for Hyderabad campus. We had to report on 28th july for admission.

Faculty :

The average number of lectures ranged from 4-8 per week, the semester was of 4.5 months almost, excluding exams. Though the extra lectures are not included here. Their knowledge has always helped us understanding deeply the subjects and the motive too. Nobody just vaguely taught anything, we were also taught why it was necessary. The average age of all teachers lie between 32-45 years where almost all teachers have a post doctoral degree, from abroad. One of our professors also had 8 years experience of industry. The others have certifications in various areas, including pharmacokinetics, six-sigma etc.

Furthermore, the college has strong ties with the pharmaceutical industry, which provides excellent opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and become professionally prepared for their future careers.

By entrance exam, I got admitted to this college and I entered this course so that I can get depth knowledge about the field. I am doing master in the specialized branch called Pharmaceutics and it's a great course. You have to give the entrance exam and on the basis of the rank you get in the exam you will get the college.
