Dislikes
- The ratio of boys and girls is 4:1 which is not good for social interaction.
- The classes are there from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. those we have very less time for self study.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am a student of electrical engineering and my seniors have told me that the university course is sufficient to get a placement in core in electrical jobs. Moreover , from our university many students get placements in tech field like coding etc. The placement percentage of students from electrical department in NIT Silchar is around 88%. Last year, the highest placement was of 52 LPA. I choosed electrical department in NIT Silchar because there are various kinds of jobs for electrical engineering students. Students can also go for tech related jobs through our university.
Internships Opportunities :
Students can go for internship from 3rd year. There are a lot of companies which provides internship to students of NIT Silchar such as OIL India, godrej etc. There is a specific cell in NIT Silchar which brings the opportunities of internship for the students of NIT Silchar.
Placement Experience :
NIT Silchar is quite good for placements. The placement percentage of different branches is quite good. Students have to maintain around 6 to 7 CGPA to sit for placements. Around 94 percentage of this students of computer science and Engineering, 88 to 89 percentage students from electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering are able to get placement in campus. In civil and Mechanical engineering, around 85% students became able to get campus placements. The highest placements of electrical engineering, electronics and communication and some other branches where around 52 LPA last year and in CSC it was 80 LPA. Around 200 companies visit NIT Silchar for placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
At first, we had to pay SAF and PAF in josaa website. SAF was 35,000 rupees and PAF was 45,000 rupees. The money, we had paid through josaa was taken as college fees for first semester. Then we had to pay the hostel fees for first semester and it was 22,500 rupees. My annual income is in between 1 to 5 lakhs. That's why I have to pay total (excluding the hostel fees) 58,833 rupees. The tution fee is 20,833. Total caution fees is 20,000 rupees. Admission fees is 1000 rupees. There are more components like development fees( 3000 rupees), corpus fee( 1000 rupees), student aided Fund( 1000 rupees) etc. For sc/st students, tution fee is zero and they have to pay total (excluding hostel fees) of 38,000 rupees for first semester. Students can apply for government as well as private scholarships like NSP, Reliance foundation, Bhartiya Airtel foundation etc.
Campus Life :
There are many and technical festivals in NIT Silchar including tecnosis, incandescence etc. There are various clubs in NIT Silchar like machine learning club, coding club, E-cell etc. There are a lot of books in the library and since it is a digital library there are lots of videos and digital books as well. Students are able to perform various sports activities in the campus. There are football field, cricket field volleyball field etc inside the campus. Student can go for various sports like football, volleyball, badminton, Kabaddi etc.
Hostel Facilities :
I am in a hostel of NIT Silchar. Hostels are good. 22500 rupees are asked for mess and hostel for every semester. In hostels LAN facility are given, so students are able to use unlimited Internet. There are bed, fans, tables and almari in hostel rooms. Students have to pay 22500 rupees fees in admission time.
Admission :
Ine josaa counseling , I had applied it for NIT Silchar and Assam University Silchar. NIT Silchar is found to be better than Assam University in various rankings like NIRF ranking etc. Students have to appear for joint entrance examination to get admission in b.tech courses in NIT Silchar. Students have to perform a good score in joint entrance examination as more than 14 lakh students applied for the examination this year and only some thousands students were able to get a good NIT, IIT, IIIT etc.
Faculty :
There are 80 students in a section. The faculty professors are quite good. 14 of our faculty professors have been recognised as world's top 2 percentage scientist by standford university. Moreover there are tech-parent of every junior. There are mid semester examinations of 30 marks for each subjects and the end semester examination of 50 marks. 20 marks are given by the professors on basis of different factors like attendance practical lab etc.
