Remarks :
College management has changed a lot since I was in last year and busy in my own placement preparation and final project. Director has been appointed from IIT kharagpur. Many new faculties have been recruited specially those who have done PhD from outside
Entrance Preview :
AIEEE, now JEE mains. I scored 210/360 in 2011 exam. IIITA is a leader in the field of IT and ECE. Moreover no seat quota unlike other NITs, so getting a seat for non home state guy is relatively easier.
Internships Opportunities :
College allows 2 intenships: 2 months after 3rd year. 6 months intenship in 8th semester (No course work goes on during that time). 50-60 students get 2 months internship. Companies like amazon, directi, De shaw, Qualcomm and many others visit. I got into Qualcomm. Many startups visit for 6 months internship including Grofers, practo, Inmobi.
Placement Experience :
Placements are awesome. It is one of the few colleges with over 6. 5 lpa avg CTC. ECE average is above 5. 5 and IT average over 7 lpa. Many MNCs and startups hire from IIITA. 6 months internship is a major attraction is for lot of companies which later give Pre Placement offer based on performance of students. Almost 70% students get a decent internship and are able to successfully convert it into full time offer. Highest was Google for 1. 5 crore offer recruiting 2 stduents. Highest domestic : Codenation 24lpa followed by directi 22 lpa. Amazon, walmart, adobe, Qualcomm, freescale. Startups include: Grofers, practo, Tinyowl, Zomato, Testbook and many others also recruited.
College Events :
There are two major events : one technical (aparoksha) and one cultural(effervescence). The fests are getting bigger year by year but they have a lot to catch up to make it to the level of IITS. Both the events are 4 day events. One of the major events of technical festival is Al-khwarism, online annual coding event of IIIT allahabad. For the last 2 years, winners have been from Russia. So, yes the tech events are big. Cultural is still growing. Daler mehndi, Sona mohapatra, Neha Kakkar, lucky ali have been celebrtities at events in recent years. We have fashion show, dance competitions, drama events. Melodieux and many others during cultural nights. Online treasure hunts, Magnum opus(Project display), Hacking contest are majpor attractions for tech fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fees are feasible. It comes to 50k per semester including hostel and mess. 35k per semester is tuition fees. 3. 5k for room rent and 10k for mess food as far as I remeber. Hostel are best in class with 2 lan ports in each room, separate almirahs, tables and chair for twin sharing rooms. Unlimited internet in all hostels, lan+wifi. bathrooms are also well maintained. IIITA is just 15 years old institute, thus it has been designed with modern equipments.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Top 5 from ECE and top 10 from IT get 36k per sem merit scholarship. They also have merit cum means scholarship for people whose parents have annual income below 2. 5 lac, 4lacs and 5 lacs with different scholarship amount for all. Many state funded scholarships are also available for people of that state only.
Campus Life :
Campus is well maintained. Full freedom to boys and girls. Piya Milan Chauraha is the best hangout place during nights. Cafeteria, canteen and confectionery within campus only. Full night canteen runs in hostels. Dance party and rock night every semester. basketball courts, tennis courts, swimming pool, squash courts, cricket/football ground all present in campus. Labs fully equipped and maintained. It is one of the few institutes with IC fabrication available in institute. Separate clubs for each activities including robotics, programming, dance, music. 3rd year and 4th year students get a chance to teach juniors in TA fellowship program. This maintains a healthy relationship between seniors and juniors.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni base is still building. Only 10 -11 batches have passed out. Thus, many of them are still budding in the industry. But still there are a lot of startups from IIITians which come and recruit from campus. Tinyowl, Kuliza are some of them. They are very helpful when it comes to getting contact of their company HRs and convincing them to visit campus. Their good performance is the reason, companies keep visiting again and again.
Exam Structure :
It was a balance between Chilled out and hectic schedule. Early days will be fun. Three quizzes. one pre mid, one post mid and one surprise. Mid Sem of 30% percentage. End sem 50 and rest quizzes. Lab have separate weight age. Quizzes are objective. Proje
