Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is updated to meet the modern day technological interventions in studying Geography as a subject matter. The Remte Sensing and GIS is the latest technology used in studying and understanding the associated phenomenon of spatial landscape.
Fees and Financial Aid
Its is a central university so the course fee is substantially low. At the time of admission to the course MA Geography (in my case i paid around 4k) and after that for the following 3 semester i paid around 2k. The university provides scholarship for the topper student of few thousand rupees monthly.
Campus Life
The university hosts annual meet ups, sports meet, cultural meet, academic meet and other program of importance to the Indian Constitution. The department of Geography has a student run club named Sikkim University Geographical Society where the concerns of Geography are discussed and shared.
Admission
I applied to this particular course because only Sikkim University provided Masters of Arts in Geography all over Sikkim during the year 2019. The admission process was a written entrance , but as of now CUET is mandatory for admission to UG and PG couses in Sikkim University
Faculty
There are around 6 faculty members for the PG and PHd program. The faculty are highly intellectual individuals who have completed their PHds from JNU and DU with numerous international publications. The mentor mentee ratio would be about 1.6. There are two mid term sessional of 25 marks and final semester exam of 50 marks.
