IIIT Allahabad College Review

Dislikes

  • Hectic semesters and restricted campus timings

Course Curriculum Overview :

Technical Courses such as DSA , OOPS(for IT only) and Web Development which have real world applications are taught within 3 semesters in IIIT A which fascinates me a lot since I have a edge above many students of different colleges which have the same subjects but in much more further semesters. Frequence of Exams are almost monthly.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships offers are quite fair. More than 100 offers are made for interships in IIIT-A every year. Companies for internships -> Goodle , microsoft , amazon , goldman sachs , sprinklr , walmart , deutche bank and many more.

Placement Experience :

From 4th semester students are applicable for internships and from 7th semester students are applicable for placements. Companies visited campus previosuly -> Google ,microsoft , sprinklr , atlassian , american express , Adobe , Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest package offered is 1.4Cr ( International). Above 90% students gets placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fess for the complete course would be something under 11 - 12 Lakhs for Indian students and will vary for SAARC and NON-SAARC students which can be viewed from the site of IIIT Allahabad. The (tuition fees + miscellaneous fees excluding hostel and mess) for 1st year would be around 2-2.5 lakhs which will keep on increasing as the years will proceed. Hostel and mess fees would be less than 25,000 per semester or 50000 per year ( applicable for all) . There is no tuition fees for SC,ST or PWD students ( Only have to pay hostel and mess fees). For Scholarships you will get mail at regular period from college once you are enrolled . IIIT-A provides scholarships based on merit-cum-means award for students having CGPA > 8.5 and Annual Income of parents < 5LPA(Lakh per annum).

Campus Life :

Annual fests and events - Effervesence ( cultural fest ) , Aparoksha ( technical fest ) and Asmita ( Annual Sports Meet) Library has over 10,000 books on different topics Availability of all outdoor sports arena and equipments. Prayas is non-profitable organisation under students of IIIT-A focusing towards welfare and education of underserved children.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel Accomodation is quite good. ( 9 / 10). Mess food is fairly good. (7/10). Registration process is done itself in the campus once enrolled. No provision of locally rented rooms or PG since hostel and mess fees are compulsory.

Admission :

I got IIITA in josaa Round 5 , I chose this college because of its Good coding culture, exceptional placement offers and outstanding average package (nearly 32LPA) . Admission Process -> JOSSA Councelling Cutoffs for general male : >99.5 percentile in JEE MAINS Cutoff for general female : >99 percentile in JEE MAINS Other category cutoff can be viewed from the official website.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is pretty fair . Class-Size is usually less than 120 . For Lecture , Tutorials and Practical are assigned to different TAs and Proffesors . So for 1 course there are usually 4-5 faculties involved in 1 batch of 120 students. Dr. Saurabh Verma is by far the best faculty of Linear Algebra. All faculties are approachable at theri respective cabins. There are basically 4 written papers - Quiz-1 , Mid-Sem , Quiz - 2 and End sem. They all are medium level papers and usually scorable except for few courses. Usually All students pass the exams but very few fail in the end semester exams. Relevancy of all the courses are on the scal 8-10 out of 10.

Placement Experience:

The placement is very good in my college. From the 7th semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. Many companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Mahindra etc do visit my college. The highest package is 16 lacs per annum and the average package is 4 lacs per annum. 95 % of students of the batch get placement every year. My plan is to get a placement in a product-based company after completing my degree.

Placement Experience:

In this college, there is 100 percent placement of all students. But some students choose to take admission in post-graduation. Post-graduation course is not available in this college due to University policy.

I took entrance examination of UPTU and scored 4500 rank. I chose this college as I was getting Computer science branch in this college. Moreover many of my school time scenarios were in this college and gave fabulous feedback which at last proved to be true.

Placement was good and approximately 90% of the batchmates got places. I got placed in first company that came to college that time.
