  • The uniform should have been of a darker shade so that it doesn’t get dirty very fast.
  • WiFi in the college is restricted where a student cannot access different websites even if it’s for projects or education.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I was always fascinated with electrical machines which influenced me join this course. The curriculum consists of topics which includes both ac machines and dc machines and also includes practical for the same which prepares a person to face real time problems. The areas that can be improved in this course curriculum is that more of application of computer in the field of electrical engineering can be included which will be a great boon. The exams which are conducted are moderately difficult but can be done well if one prepares for them from the beginning.

Placement Experience :

Students are usually eligible for placements from the seventh semester. Companies that visited including South Indian Bank,TCS,Infosys,LGB industries,Haritha Techserv were I got placed. The offer usually varies from 2,50,000 to 12,00,000 per annum, where South Indian Bank provided the highest package. Almost 60 to 70%of the students got placed this year into various companies.I am currently doing my training with Haritha Techserv after which I'll start my job.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees in an year is around ?84000 which is usually divided into 42000 per semester. Also an amount of 10000 is submitted as caution deposit which is refunded at the end of the course. Students do belong to SC,ST communities have a reduced fees or full fee waiver based on the caste.E grants scholarships are available for most of the students which is provided by the government.

Campus Life :

The annual tech festival conducted in the college is called tharang which is usually held in the month of January and includes many events. The library in the college is really good with many textbooks for reference. It also has a digital library where you can access publication papers and journals. The classrooms are well equipped with WiFi and projectors and other basic amenities. The sports offered in the college includes football, basketball, cricket, table tennis etc. The college also has a dance team which competes in many national events. Different clubs present in the college include NSS, Google Developers Club,IEEE club etc. which organises many events and hackathons in the college and increases exposures for the student.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel provides basic accommodation services in the room which includes a bed, table and a cupboard. It also has WiFi services. The meal quality is really good with separate sections for veg and non veg. They also provide tea and snacks in the morning and evening. They also provide mess cut for the days of absence. Registration process for the hostel is easy, where you just have to talk about it with the management and it's totally worth the money. If you want to rent rooms in the locality, many paying guest services are present around the college.

Admission :

I had also applied to government engineering college in Wayanad where I got a confirmed admission but I decided to join here as I have heard Jyothi engineering College has a better placement opportunities and a dedicated faculty and the campus life is also really good. I got rejected from Government Engineering College Thrissur and College of Engineering Trivandrum s as the cutoff for those colleges are higher than what I achieved. Admissions are usually done through KEAM examination rank or through management quota. The overall admissions process was very easy as we were given a clear cut idea for the process and help desk were available in the college during the whole admission procedure to guide us.

Faculty :

The faculty of Electrical department is really nice and knowledgeable. The relationship of faculty with the students in the class is strictly professional but once they leave the class they are more like friends with us and are very approachable. We can reach out to them with our doubts anytime and they help us. i specially dr. Shijoh who is a very amazing teacher as well as an incredible human being and has an in depth knowledge of the subjects. Two internal exams are conducted in each semester which are easy to score and an end semester exam is conducted, which can also be aced easily.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements starts generally from the seventh semester in the fourth year. Nehru institutions have a lot of hold with multinational companies so a lot of companies like TCS, BPL, Amazon are offering placements to students who have no back papers. The highest package offered by companies is 9lakhs per year and the average salary is 4000/month. Mainly placements are offered to computer science engineering students comparatively.

Placement Experience:

The only student from the 4th year was eligible for campus placements. Every year nearly 88% of students got placed. Our batch was also not an exception. Most jobs were taken up by cse stream followed by our stream. Companies visited included Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions,ITC Infotech, Odessa Technologies, and others. The highest package of 5 lakhs was offered by Infosys.Cts offered 4 lakhs highest. The average package offered to all was 3 lakhs per annum.ITC offered 3.6 lakhs per annum. My plan after getting a degree was to join the job of CTS. Then I had dreams of an MBA in the future if possible since it would attract higher packages in the future. Many friends of mine got double offers. There were offers from. Sonodyne, Vodafone also. Since I got a job already,I didn't seat for Vodafone. Vodafone also offered a handsome package of 4 lakhs per annum.ZTE operations also took few students from our college
