Remarks :

Overall, the college is decent. The faculties and management are supportive. However, do not expect great things to happen with you here, unless you work hard on your own. Every year, a large number of students from BIT are selected in GATE, CAT, GRE and there is a good atmosphere here in Bhilai for these competitive exams. So if you are up to achieve something, life will be good for you here. But if you are here only for leisure of engineering life, then it won't be as happening as you thought to be.!

Entrance Preview :

I scored 103 marks in JEE Mains 2015. I was not getting any good government college through my JEE marks. I belong to General category and my family financial conditions were not so well off to send me into private institutes like SRM, VIT, KIIT etc. One of my school senior was studying that time at BIT Durg and she got placed at TCS the same year. So she suggested me for this college as the fee is quite less and the faculties are good. Also, I was not getting my desired branch (CSE) in other colleges, which I got here in BIT. So finally I decided to opt for this college!

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum here is pretty sufficient in manner. The university keeps on upgrading the curriculum according to the current demands. Especially in BIT, more focus is laid on practicals and project making these days, which is helping students to secure good jobs and internships in the final and pre-final years.

Internships Opportunities :

No, the college does not provide an in-house internship. But it is mandatory to do at least two summer internships after 2nd and 3rd year respectively. The TPO, however, supports by a tie-up with local companies which could provide internships and also promotes good platforms like LinkedIn and Internshala. Also, various skill development workshops are held in the campus time to time for every branch.

Placement Experience :

The placements are decent here. Don't expect big tech giants like Google and Amazon here. But yes many good MNCs like Capgemini, Analytics Quotient, Panasonic, SAP Labs, TCS, BYJUs, etc do visit the campus and take a good number of students. The TPO department is very active and always committed to getting you placed. However, the harsh reality is that the placements for core branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical are not up to the mark. But eligible students of CSE, IT, ETC are mostly placed by the end of the session.

College Events :

College celebrates the Annual Techno-Cultural-Management-Sports fest called OJAS every year. College fests are the best way to gain leadership and managerial skills. Also, different events like debates, essay writing, quizzes, coding contests, youth parliament and various sports tournaments are also organized at regular intervals. There are various clubs in BIT like Professional Activity Club, Clicks Photography Club, Vista Cultural Club, Quiz Club etc, which also conducts events and seminars for students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The Fee structure is quite reasonable here if you compare it with the fee structure of other private colleges. The fees here is around Rs 35,000 per semester. This is the overall fee and no additional money is taken in the name of any facility here. The hostel fee is Rs 27,000 per semester which includes both lodging and mess.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

College and university both provide different scholarships for meritorious students every semester. Also, there are many cash rewards for securing highest marks in some particular subjects too. I personally do not know about the loan facilities. But many of my friends have taken a loan from UCO Bank which is on the campus itself and it was not a painstaking job. Also, there are some extra fee waivers for the reserved caste students.

Campus Life :

The campus life is average here in BIT. You will not see many happening things in campus-like good food outlets, outdoor parks, night canteen etc. Everything closes in the campus once the college timings are over. This is the reason most of the students prefer to stay outside the campus, and not in the hostel. The gender ratio in the college is quite balanced. The ratio of faculties is also good. There are various extracurricular activities organized in the campus like workshops, Ganeshotsava, different cultural and literary competitions and others which I have already mentioned.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is decent. The infrastructure is quite old, but the rooms are renovated recently. There is a separate smaller hostel campus for 1st-year students to avoid any ragging issue. But one thing which is not food is that the Girls hostel is not in the College campus. It is around 2 Kms always. Boys hostel is in the campus itself. The hostel is well equipped with Gymnasium, WiFi, Water Coolers and other facilities. Mess food is decent. Not so good, not so bad.

Alumni/Alumna :

The Alumni network is very powerful in BIT. Many of the Alumni are in very good positions now and they help in conducting good placements in BIT. We have an Alumni portal too where everyone is connected. The Alumni meet also takes places every year. Also, the senior-junior bond is a famous thing of BIT. Seniors are very helpful throughout.

Exam Structure :

We have end semester exams after every semester. Every college is allowed a centre for giving an exam. The exam structure is quite justified by the university at the starting of the tenure itself. Syllabus and recommended books are also prescribed. But one thing I would like to mention is, that the checking of exam copies is a big headache for students here. Sometimes even after writing correct answers, students are awarded backlogs, which he has to then challenge through Re-evaluations by paying some fees.

Admission :

BIT Durg is affiliated to CSVTU Bhilai. Every year, admissions are made through the state counselling of Chhattisgarh state, which is notified through different newspapers and university website. There are two ways for admission in BIT. 1st one is through CGPET, that is for the students of Chhattisgarh state. 90% of the total seats are reserved for the CG Students. 2nd way is through JEE Mains score, which is for other state candidates. Previous year cutoffs for both the ways are provided in the CGDTE website where one can compare and decide.

Faculty :

The faculties in BIT are the most experienced faculties in Chhatisgarh, after NIT Raipur. The professors are very helpful and friendly. Although some professors are very strict regarding the attendance, overall they are very supportive. The faculties here provide their own prepared notes, which are very famous here in Bhilai and nearby colleges. Many faculties are famous for their names because of their published books and research papers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am very interested for choosing mech brach.so, I choose the mech branch in gec raipur. The curriculum is good and the required teachers are also good. Two class test will be taken in each semester each of carrying 20 marks. Generally pyq's are asked in these class test. The exam level is moderate but if you have no preparation you can not pass the exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I opted for BE because I want further for the GATE and research programme. Since BE is more theoretical than B. Tech so it helped me a lot in Qualifying GATE. Here Faculty to students ratio is about 1500 to 150000 which means per class of 80+ students is covered by a faculty at least.

Remarks:

As it is clear from its name this is a government institution and that's why it posses some government order like less influence of outer political groups etc, which prevents students from having different habits apart from study. This college is good in terms of study, fee structure etc. So this is worth taking admisaion
