A review of IITD by an average iitd student

Dislikes

  • Most clubs are kinda stagnant but it could be because of covid as 2 of the first four years were online with next to no club activities
  • Some department profs are not supportive of the students especially the mech ones and as ive heard the mathematics ones too

Course Curriculum Overview :

The mechanicap curriculum is way too outdated for the most part and you will be wondering the relevance of half the atuff you learnt. I have heard the other curriculums like CS and EE are pretty nice though.

Internships Opportunities :

The college organizes a internship campaign much like the placement campaign but with lower placement rates. Exactly the same scenario for core engineering fields as there was in placements. The number of opportunities are considerably lower than in placements and around only half or less than half the students get an internship via the college placement cell.

Placement Experience :

Last years and around 60 % of the students have been placed. Also the average package has gone down and most companies are IT, consultancy and finance. Especially low placements for core engineering fields

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The academic fees for general is around 125000 per semester with scholarships by the college for the lower castes. You can also avail many other scholarships during your stay from various other government and private sources.

Campus Life :

The fests were okay but fests and clubs are mostly run by the students who are in it almost only for the POR and a T-shirt or some other free stuff exclusive to the organizers of the events and clubs so yeah they arent exactly enthusiastic about the things they are doing

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facility is great. The mess menu is decided by the students and the mess authority together so its pretty nice. Also there is absolutely no ragging of any kind. Most seniors are pretty helpful.

Admission :

The admission process was pretty simple as a procedure you qualify JEE Main then JEE advanced and sit for JOSAA seat allotment with your preferences of colleges and branches and get a seat based on your rank in JEE advanced. The cut off for mech was about 1500 iirc.

Faculty :

Faculty members are very qualified in their respective fields however most either dont put enough effort in teaching or just cant teach. Rarely provide mentorship unless you are involved with them in a club or project. They are however pretty easy to get in contact with but how much they will listen to you is a different matter

Placement Experience:

Placements are going abyssmal recently. due to sudden hike in number of students and the recession going on, there is utter discomfort among students regarding the placement season. most companies do visit the campus, but theyjust take 2 or 3 students and leave. the packages are pretty good, but only few people get to bag those. so at the end of season, there is a few population placed in good companies, and a big population left unemployed.

Placement Experience:

Good placement opportunities student can sit for placement from 7th semester companies will come. Avg package for cse/IT is around 7 lpa and for ece is 4-5 lpa. No good internship opportunities on campus you have to try off campus. Top recruiters are zomato, chayos, amazon, zs associates, josh technology, tcs, juapay, cvent, cognizant, yamaha and many more companies.... Highest package is 50 lpa in Microsoft and lowest is 3.5 lpa.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is okayish nor too good neither too bad the average package here is around 6 lpa which is less but some companies do come and place the students in the campus itself also the network of alumni is good they also apply for offcampus placement and try build a network for the juniors. We often get internship notification from our seniors only

Course Curriculum Overview:

DU has many reputable colleges and departments that offer high-quality education, but like any institution, there may be variations in the quality of education depending on the specific course, faculty members, resources available, and other factors. there is some frequency for exam along with your perspective on their moderate level

Placement Experience:

From 4th semester companies started hiring interns which happens incampus obviously and they also pay kind of decent stipend somewhere around 20-40k. Placements here is decent enough like if you want that 1cr package you'll have to look for off campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I wanted to pursue engineering and ipu has a great reputation. placements is also decent.Faculty is nice and teaching method is also nice. Student ratio is pretty bad especially in cse. There are two exams in one semester the midsem and endsem. Exams are moderately difficult. The college is also in a very lively location in Delhi and has many places for students to hang out. Faculty at msit, is well educated and best at their job of teaching, almost all the teachers are experience holders, teaching at msit. It's easy to pass the exams If you study from teachers notes because most of the questions are related to their notes in midsem and endsem. Exams are of 30 marks and 75 marks and passing marks are 12 and 30.But the cse branch is considered as top branch in the msit and is preferred over the other branches is what I have been told by the seniors. The faculty is quite qualified and know how to teach labs are also well maintained .
