- The campus is situated at a scenic location near Valavoor village in Kottayam, Kerala. The view is quite breathtaking, especially during the rainy season. The Summers,on the other hand, can be really harsh. Campus is clean and well maintained.
- Most of the professors are really helpful. Also seniors take lots of initiatives through various clubs(technical as well as cultural). The curriculum ensures that students are taught and prepared according to the current industrial requirements.

- The worst thing about the college is definitely the mess food. I have experienced hostel Life since 5th grade. But never ever I have seen such poor quality food. Vegetarians like me will surely suffer the most. Atleast some fruits should be given...
- The sports facilities are in absolute shambles. Most of the schools have better facilities than the college. Football and cricket share the same ground(rather just a open, plain and dusty area). Volleyball has a seperate court that gets flooded
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum offers a well-rounded approach, covering foundational theories as well as practical applications, which is crucial for a holistic understanding. Opportunities for internships, projects, and case studies were emphasized, providing hands-on experience that is essential for skill development. The involvement of experienced and knowledgeable faculty members who are active in their fields ensures that the curriculum is both current and relevant. The exams are easy to moderate although sometimes they can be really challenging.
Internships Opportunities :
Numerous companies provide internships in our college. I am just a first year passout so I don't actually know much about this thing. But there sure are a lot of hackathons and compitions. Many apply for daad scholarship in germany.
Placement Experience :
highest CTC-45 LPA Average-12.66 LPA Individual Placements- 126 No.of Offers-169 Companies: Amazon, IBM,Bosch,Nissan ,TCS, Infosys,Nvidia,Cognizant,Wipro, Goldman Sachs, Capgemini and many more more details are available on the official website of IIIT Kottayam
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The structure of fees(for sem 3) : 120000-tution 30900-hostel 27950-mess 1650-other Total of 180500 for a sem Many students got scholarships through NSP(nothing for general and ews category). Also if I am not wrong there is fee remission for sc,st students from Kerala.
Campus Life :
The cultural club of iiit Kottayam is Wildbeats. Throughout the year they organise many competitions and flash mobs. Chitrachaya is the photography club of our college. Our annual techo- cultural fest is known as Apoorv. There are also many more events on the occasion of festivals like onam, diwali and Ganesh chaturthi. Most of these events are low budget ventures because the college doesn't provide enough funds. Also there is a students mess committee (safe to say it's not of much use)
Hostel Facilities :
Each room has 3 occupants. The rooms have fan, cupboards and study tables as well as individual beds. Wifi routers are provided everywhere. During rainy season, there are some issues regarding the internet speed. Sometimes the routers are down for whole days. As for the meal, there cannot be anything worse. Menu is balanced with both North and South dishes but they seem to forget about the taste.
Admission :
Last year's cutoff marks are available on the josaa website. Candidates must register on the JOSAA official website using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced roll number and password. During registration, candidates need to provide personal, academic, and contact details. JOSAA conducts multiple rounds of seat allocation. Seat allocation is based on the candidate’s rank, category, and choices filled. After each round, the results are published on the JOSAA website. Candidates must present the original documents for verification at the reporting center or the allotted institute. Required documents typically include JEE Main/Advanced scorecard, rank card, provisional seat allotment letter, class 10th and 12th mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), and other relevant certificates.
Faculty :
All the faculty members are well qualified. Most of them are ready to solve any queries of the students. For the first years the student teacher ratio was like 1 to 150 but this was not much of a problem I guess. There are digital boards in the classrooms. The lab hours are also not too bad. Although we had some really brilliant professors (some were more eager to teach than the students were in learning), there were some exceptions. For example for our computer architecture course we had a professor who knew as much about he course she was teaching as I know about Malayalam(I am Marathi). But I think this was managments mistake as she was maybe assigned a subject she didn't know about. They ought to be more careful in this regard.
