A review of Government Engineering College.

Dislikes

  • No proper preparation of seating plans during the examinations.
  • The staff and teachers are too strict and some of them don't work so professionally.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Here the curriculum is based upon only academic knowledge rather than the practical knowledge. The curriculum can be improved by considering the fact that students need to be more able to understand the core concepts instead of arranging passable marks. The frequency of examinations is a headache. For example our current semester ended in just 3½ months, and we gave at least 3 Monthlies and 1quiz for every subject(6) excluding end semester exams.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fee structure of our college is quite considerable as compared to other colleges. We only require 50 to 55000 rupees per year or we can say at least 25000 per semester. On an average completing BTech in this college would require around 5 lacs, taking into account living and expenses. I only know of one type of scholarship which is that of the Jammu and Kashmir scholarship as if a college is in the border of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir and it gives students around 50000 rupees per semester I think.

Campus Life :

there are a lot of annual and technical festival celebrated in the college for example there are best of every branch like civil, electrical, electronics and mechanical and also we have MBA branch that also arranges fests. I have never quite the library kid but one I went there and they have lot of academic books but don't have any journals. The classes are quite average considering the technology have a projector and that's it. We also have normal day today facilities like fans, windows etc.

Admission :

I am lateral entry student, the eligibility for my course was to complete my diploma in my respective course that is civil engineering. the application form can be found on the Himachal Pradesh technical university website application fees for around 1600 rupees. I did not have any type of reservation but there reservation can consist of 20 to 25 seats from a total of 100 seats. As I have done previously my diploma in the same course the exam difficulty was not that much greater for me I was able to pass easily but the frequency in timing of exam is quite Harsh or students as it can be around every 2 weeks. There is much need of proper admission process. When I was in the admission process that is the counselling there was a lot of crowd and we had to wait at least 6 or 7 hours while my percentage was very good that was 83%.

Faculty :

The teachers as we all know are different from each other. In our department the teachers are quite well professionals and master of their jobs. They are friendly, understanding etc. But in Electrical Department, there is quite shortage of teachers, that affects their study a lot And applied science teachers are neutral.

Other Applied Colleges

Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College - [JNGEC] | Diploma in Civil Engineering {Lateral}

It was too close to my home.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum InfluencesInnovative Course Structure: The curriculum is designed to integrate technical education with humanities and social sciences, ensuring a well-rounded education. Entrepreneurship Focus: The presence of the IIT Mandi Catalyst, a technology business incubator, encourages students to develop entrepreneurial skills alongside their technical education. Broader Elective Options: Some students feel that offering a wider range of elective courses would allow for more personalized and diverse learning experiences. Enhanced Practical Exposure: Increasing the number of industry visits, internships, and practical workshops could further bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications Faculty Training: While the faculty is highly qualified, regular professional development and training sessions could help them stay updated with the latest teaching methodologies and technological advancements
