Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum used a blend of theory and practical approaches to learning. In my course, most of the weightage was on practical assignments. We were taught using books, articles, papers, documentaries, youtube lessons. We were shown movies and shows to better understand a concept.
Internships Opportunities :
Students seek on-campus internships for which they have to work with the placement cell. Apart from that, a lot of students also seek internships from other places, either online or off-campus. The stipend is usually between 2k-8k.
Placement Experience :
Placements aren't super lucrative mainly because you won't land a great job just by completing your undergrad. However, the placement cell is very responsive and tries their best to aid students who are interested in placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My course was slightly expensive compared to other undergrad courses because of two reasons- one being we had the best classrooms in the building and secondly, we had practicals in studios that used very expensive equipment and softwares. Scholarships and financial aid are provided to deserving students.
Campus Life :
The campus is a very happening place and the annual fest, Xavotsav is the biggest and the most anticipated college fest in Kolkata. The college has a lot of different societies and there's a place for everyone there. The societies keep hosting events and fests which are attended by esteemed people and celebrities.
Admission :
To get admitted to Mass communication, you have to appear for a one-hour long examination which tests your creativity, your proficiency in English and your general knowledge. Some seats are reserved for SC/ST students but they still have to perform well in the entrance exam. Christians and students who have studied from the St. Xavier's School also get favourability.
Faculty :
The faculty is very experienced in their areas of teaching and most of them have doctorates from prestigious universities. They have a hands-on approach to teaching and their classes are very engaging and interactive. They are very open, approachable and friendly to students and are always there to clarify any doubts.
