What Students Say
Likes
- The faculty in Dyal Singh College, DU is really good and supportive. Another thing I like is that there are societies for literally everything and no one can be bored.
- The campus is huge and there is a lot of place to sit and chill.
- The DU brand name is a good advantage itself.
Dislikes
- There is no regularity and strictness of rules. Attendance is not given a lot of priority, there is no proper discipline. Students take the curriculum very lightly.
- Poor infrastructure quality, no AC and poor quality food is served in canteen
- Proper room numbers are not alloted, for each class you need to run from one place to another and even the rooms are highly scattered on the campus.
Course Curriculum Overview
My particular course is B.Com (Hons) and the course in itself is very nicely curated keeping in mind the apt ratio for practical and theoretical advancement of the students. The syllabus is well linked with the commerce world and the elective courses provide an additional opportunity to pursue interests in other fields as well.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies come for recruitment drives including ones like KPMG, Bajaj, etc. The average placement as per past records is around 4.5 LPA. There are also internship fests organized every year that can help students get placed.
Placement Experience
I am currently at the end of the 1st year so I have not sit for any placement yet. Although I have a rough idea of the average placement being around 4.5 LPA. My plans regarding employability include sitting for campus recruitment /placement drive in the 3rd year for a finance role job.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for my course is around 18500/year which makes it around 55000 for a 3 year degree, which is quite reasonable considering the fee structures of other universities. I did not apply for a scholarship but I know that there are reservations for EWS (economically weaker sections).
Campus Life
The overall crowd is not very good at DSC due to the wide variety of courses offered, but the crowd of commerce department particularly is okay. I myself am a part of the official society for commerce ComSoc and the quality of people there is good. But overall it is tough to have a good social life there.
Admission
The admission process was not that confusing. Although the concept of CUET was new therefore there were a bit uncertainties regarding the cutoff. I personally scored 757/800 in my CUET exam, which dropped to 725/800 after normalization and I got the 31st preference from my preference list.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:60 in core subjects and it goes slightly lower for the electives. Although the teachers teach well, but due to low strictness levels and no discipline there is high irregularity of attendance and students don't attend classes properly.
