- The infrastructure and environment of the university is very claming and studious. The university campus is full of natural assests and beautiful nature around.
- The library facilities are very good, library consists of good study material and the sitting area is quite large too.
Dislikes
- The distance of hostel, mess is a lot from academic block. Since they are situated quite far but availability of auto rickshawas makes it a little easy for students.
- The weather of bathinda is a little harsh in summers.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum and syllabus is very updated and can be useful for future aspects. As it contains skill worthy courses and subjects that can be utilized in real world jobs and other areas as well. The programming languages being taught are new like python and R which are useful for the field of bioinformatics. The subjects like protein engineering and ngs are very well taught and is appreciable.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The complete cost of education here is not very much and can be paid . The charges university takes are appropriate as per the place. The scholarships are provided every year based on category as well as merit. Campus employment is not as such great in all departments but by the scheme of earn with learn the students can earn money as well as study in the university. The professor though can recommend and allow students to go out for internships.
Campus Life :
The campus life is very amusing and nice. Various functions keep happening at all the time in the university. All the students from different states, religions that come here enjoy and celebrate their respective festivals and rituals and the university supports this. If we talk about availability of books that it consists of all kinds of books related to the subject, the issuing process is easy too in the library. The facilities in the classroom are good. Every classroom has AC in it and the furniture is good too. The projectors are available too in all classrooms. University conducts the sports events every year and students can participate in it as well.
Hostel Facilities :
Every room in hostel contains 4 beds generally, the rooms are big enough to accommodate 4 people. Two hostels are there for girls as well as for boys. Each and every floor contains two washrooms and one water filter and cooler. Outside the hostel there is mess which is currently an cooperative mess , the quality of food in mess is normal to good( can be eaten) . The menu changes for everyday in a week and is decided priory. The cost of food is not much I.e around 2800 for month for a student. Lifts are available at in both mess and hostels. The rented pg outside campus in under the village outside also called as ghudda village. Pgs are available le at around 2500 to 3000 for a room. The locality outside is ohkay in the morning hours but after 9 pm in the night it is not that safe outside so it is recommended for students to stay inside after 9 pm.
Admission :
The admission happens through cuet pg exam in this university. Various lists come succesively according to the merit of students. Usually all the departments get 3 lists of admission . Once your name is there in the list you just have to report to university and complete the process of admission through appropriate documents required by the university and the other essential forms like anti-ragging by student ,parent, medical certificate and previous graduation passing certificate as well as the application form of cuet. The eligibility of the course for bioinformatics is atleast 55% in graduation in any disciplines of lifescience and other sciences. The difficulty level of cuet exam is moderate to easy . The chances of admission increases when the student gets merit in exam. The seats are reserved according to the reservation policy in both hostel as well as university.
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio for msc bioinformatics is less , subject are more and the professors teaching them are less , so this fact impacts the students sometimes. Even though the present faculty members are great (except some) it still sometimes is a matter of concern. The approachability of teachers and students is very well , communication is nice.
