College through my eyes

Dislikes

  • Personally i wanted to be in a college which is really spacious with lots of grounds and all.
  • College is approximately 1 or more kilometers from pmg junction. There is no bus stop in front of college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

As per me personally, i am interested in aerospace engineering. But there are no government colleges via keam entrance where aeronautical engineering is present. So i chose mechanical engineering which was my next option. I am interested in studying about mechanisms inside the machines, vehicles etc. Im really interested in space technologies also. Thermodynamics, fluid machinery, mechanics, solids are all seemed interesting for me rather than civil or electrical subjects. I also am interested in the manufacturing of missiles, and machines there in defense field. So overall mechanical engineering seemed approachable for me. Coming to my college ,the mechanical faculties here are really supportive. They are always ready to provide information regarding our doubts. Recently they even conducted a session with well known scientists who have worked in VSSC. It was an interactive session where students were able to clear there doubts regarding aerospace fields. Mechanical faculty is the best.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Being a government college, fees are low comparing to Private and aided colleges. But there are tuition fees and exam fees. Being a general category student, i do need to pay all the fees correctly. There are reservation categories who doesn't need to pay as much as we do. There are also very low number of scholarships for general category students.

Campus Life :

Campus life in our college will be awsome if utilised well. Our campus is not much spacious but interactive. Departments are nearby and it is easy to interact with other branches. Fests are there in our college but it is not conducted for the past two years Classrooms and environment are nice Clubs and organisations are maintained really well. IEEE ISTE ASME etc are very well organised.

Admission :

Admission process was good. Cut off marks for ieam exam was only ten. Application and all other facilities are there on government websites provided for Kerala entrance. Details and all other required informations are correctly given on the keam sites.

Faculty :

The faculty in government college of engineering Barton hill is really good. All the teachers are really dedicated and hardworking. There are enough teachers available. Teachers do have a great knowledge about their subject. Senior most professors with great experiences are also there. They are always ready to provide instructions and help for the students if they ask for. Portions are completed accordingly. Extra classes are provided if needed. Doubt clearance sessions are provided. Because of shortage of time nowadays, professors are ready to take extra classes via online for the needed students .Exam oriented questions are taught. Series exams are conducted effectively. Portions for series exams are also complete at the right time. Power point presentations are provided. Pdfs and notes are provided. Notes are uploaded in google classrooms by some professors. Some of them gives notes in the class itself. Lab classes are also provided every week. Counselling sessions are also there.

Interview Experience :

For the admission process, there was no group discussions, interviews or written tests. Only the keam score along with plus two marks was needed. Admission process was really simple. Mandatary certificates and other documents were needed. A simple interview with the principal was there, it was a friendly one.
