Course Curriculum Overview :
Students are required to give mid semester exams as well as end semester exams in a single semester. Besides these two exams, they are also required to take quizzes which are also taken twice in a semester.
Internships Opportunities :
Students are given many internship opportunities. They are required to have an interview and give online tests, based on which they will be given the internship. Stipends range from 15000 per month to as high as 100000 per month
Placement Experience :
Students enrolled in the Master Of Computer Applications are placed very well yearly, with packages averaging 12 to 15 CTC, and the highest package going up to 53 lakhs per annum. A wide variety of companies come to the campus to offer placements to the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The Hostel Fees cost Rs 32000 for a single semester. Students are either given triple, double or single occupying rooms. The Institute Fees on the other hand cost Rs 48000 for a single semester. Scholarships are available for students having reservation.
Campus Life :
NITK hosts two fests annually, namely, Engineer and Incident. Engineer is a technical fest held in the month of October, while Incident is a cultural fest held in the month of March. A wide range of books and journals are made available in the Central Library for the students to borrow at their will.
Hostel Facilities :
Students in the first year of the Master of Computer Applications course are given a triple room to share. They are provided with a bed, table, chair, and cabinet. Students are given a choice of 7 messes to eat from.
Admission :
For Eligiblility of the course, the student needed to have a Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects taught in the under graduate course. For admission into the MCA course of NITK, and other NITs, the student must give an extrance exam, namely NIMCET. The exam is conducted in the month of June every year. Marks are given based on the principle of relative grading.
Interview Experience :
Students are required to give a computer based entrance exam namely NIMCET. Students then go through a counselling round. Based on merit basis of the marks and rank in the exam, students are given seats in the different NITs.
