Good facilities that needs to be grabbed.

Dislikes

  • The fee structure is quite high for the things it provides in classes. Many things which are taught in IIT aren't even touched here.
  • The hostel has a lot of restrictions in the 1st and 2nd year. Some restrictions need to be changed for the betterment of the students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is quite good in terms of other private colleges. It includes a lot of subjects which will help in the long term. The first term starts with C programming and the general subjects. The year progresses by teaching more subjects such as Java, python, SQL, basic electronics, Operating systems, data structures in C and much more... The classrooms have AC and are quite large. There are labs for everything here. Be it robotics, electronics, 3D printing etc. The frequency of exams is the bad part in my opinion, there is very less gap between the mid sem exams and the end sem. The exams are quite difficult but it will be easy if you study before the exams. Professor are quite helpful and approachable.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities need to be created rather than given. The intake of the college is very large so to get an internship, you need to work hard. HighRadius takes a good number of students from IT and the stipend is around 14000.It depends highly on your skill and knowledge to grap an opportunity like that. A lot of companies do come to take interns but they have their own criteria and it may not be feasible with the curriculum the students are taught here. To get an internship it is suggested to work on your skills and try to look for an internship on your own rather than wait for the university to hand it to you because most of the time, you won't get any internship.

Placement Experience :

The placement scenario for now it not that good. There is regression going on so the companies aren't taking that many students. From the 3rd year you are eligible for placements. 450 companies came this year for placements making 5200 job offers. The highest placement this year was 63 lacs by Yugabyte. Average CTC is 8.5 lacs in all streams. Mass recruiters like Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, Mindtree, Bosch, Ericsson, IBM etc. Many other notable companies that visited are Bain & Company, CME group, DE shaw & co, JP Morgan Chase etc. According to kiit website, 90% students are placed. 2100 students also got internships via capstone route. My plans after getting the degree is to do a job for some years and then after getting some experience I want to do a startup.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tuition fee in my admission year was 1 lakh 75 thousand rupees per semester. There is an initial deposit of 75000 rupees for laptop and admission fees. The tuition fees are hiked every year. If you take hostel, then you have to pay 28000 rupees per semester (3 bed non AC) and 22500 rupees for mesh per semester. The total amount is nearly 18 lacs. There are a lot of scholarship available. Firstly if you rank in under 1000 in the KIITEE then you can get a good amount of scholarship. If you are the toppers in a semester, then you get a high amount of scholarship for your excellence. Regarding campus employment, it is good till now. A lot of high paying companies come for placements and internships. Summer internships are also provided to students.

Campus Life :

The Tech fest and cultural fests take place at the same time during February. A lot of good artists come for the star night. There is a central library of KIIT which is huge and it has all sorts of books. There is an interactive smart board in every classroom . Cultural competition are given good priority here. There are a lot of grounds for sports and extracurricular activities. There are a lot of student societies for you to join. There are coding societies like GeeksforGeeks, GDSC, Konnexions etc robotics societies like KRS, electrical societies and much more. There are also volunteering societies like NSS and also many cultural societies like Korus. Overall there are many societies to join and each have their own benefits

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facilities are quite good. You are given a bed, a personal table and a study lamp. An almirah for keeping your belongings. If you take 3 bedroom, then rooms can be a bit conjusted. There is enough ventilation in the room also. The hostel menu for the first year is bad in my opinion. The quality of food is not that good. The wardens are strict and the hostel in time will be 7 pm. The quality of food becomes better when you are shifted to a new hostel in the 2nd year. You are given chicken 4 days in a week. Also there are different meals for veg and non veg everyday. The hostel fee is 28000 rupees per semester which is quite affordable according to me. The mess fee is 22500 which is a bit much according to me for the bad quality in 1st year.

Admission :

The admission process is quite smooth. The course which I applied was Btech. The application form is available in the Kiit website from where you can apply for the KIITEE( entrance exam for kiit). 15% & 7.5% seats of KIITEE 2024 quota seats will be reserved for Schedule Caste & Scheduled Tribe (by birth) respectively. The KIITEE is held 4 times in online as well as offline mode in a year. The exams starts in March and ends in July and exams take place in 1 month gaps. The difficulty of the exams are quite high but if you are preparing for jee mains or any state level exams then it is easy to crack the exam. The cut off percentile is like 80+ and if you secure a good percentile then you can get your desired course. If you rank from 1-1000 then you can get scholarship. Also each semester toppers also get a good amount of scholarship.

Placement Experience:

The placements of this college are good. The average package is 6 lacs per annum. Studnets from the 7th semester are available for campus placements. Many IT companies and food companies visit the campus. Food companies like OurFood Pvt Ltd, Heritage, Vishaka Dairy, Milky Moo come for placements. 70 of students get placed. The rest of them opt for higher studies. Many students get qualified in the Icar AIEEA Pg examination for pursuing a post-graduate degree. I am planning to pursue an M.Tech Dairy Technology course after completing my B.Tech degree.

Remarks:

No bad remarks as all things are upto mark as expected.

Admission:

Admission process is through a exam arranged from the college itself which is KIITEE and based on the ranks you get at the exam they give you admission. I choose this institution for the vibes it has and the student friendly nature they carry. The steps to admission are too simple. You will have to fill a online form which is free of cost then give a online exam in the place allocated bu the institution then they will publish the result and give a individual rank and if selected they will call for a counselling process and there all the documents will be verified then you will be allocated to the hostels and all and they will give u a date when u will come with all your belongings for the final process.

Remarks:

The college is overall good, but its negativities would also be considered. If you really want to take admission here thinks twice. I would suggest to know in-depth about GIET and then, take admission here.

Remarks:

A big campus with a power packed sea of opportunities. Students can get a best college life here and can pursue any dream he/she want. Just a single problem is that Rourkela is not that a big city. Placements are good and are comparable with middle level IITs. You can easily achieve marks while having a life here.
