Course Curriculum Overview :

In my opinion, the course curriculum is very extensive and relevant. My choice was greatly impacted by the curriculum's emphasis on real-world application through case studies, projects, and simulation. It ensures a comprehensive understanding of business dynamics, including strategy, marketing, operations, finance and human resources. When it comes to practical applications, curriculum is excellent. In addition to providing possibilities for internships and live projects,it promotes industry engagement, the development of soft skills, and well- being in preparation for the working world. However,it might improve its coverage of new trends such as AI,data analytics and offer additional customisation options depending on individual preferences. Although some may be difficult, exams are scheduled with ample time for preparation and interspersed with surprise quizzes.Faculty members are competent, experienced, and friendly, providing valuable industry insights to enhance our learning experience

Internships Opportunities :

SIP is an integral part of the curriculum, typically spanning 8 - 10 weeks during the summer break between the first and second years of the PGP program. The process generally happens from august- September. It includes pre-placement talks, resume building etc. Top companies across diverse sectors visit the campus including BCG, Bain , JPMC, HUL, Microsoft , D.E. Shaw, Deutsche Bank etc

Placement Experience :

At IIM Kozhikode, placements for students in their final-year commence in the second year. There are about 120 companies that are participating, some of which are consulting giants like BCG, Bain, and Accenture Strategy. Leading companies from BFSI( Goldman Sachs, Citibank), FMCG( Nestle, HUL), IT(Amazon, Microsoft), etc visit regularly. In 2023, the highest package that was offered was INR 67 LPA, while the average package stood at INR 31 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid :

IIM Kozhikode's 2-year PGP Programme costs around INR 20-25 lakhs for Indian students and higher for international students. This encompasses tuition, service fees, accommodation, food, and other compulsory charges. The institute provides financial assistance through various scholarships: 1.Aditya Birla Scholarship:Awarded to exceptional students based on academic and extracurricular achievements, covering tuition fees and offering a stipend. 2.OPJEMS Scholarship: Recognizes academic excellence and leadership characteristics, covering tuition fees and providing a stipend. 3.Central Sector Scholarship Scheme: Awarded to economically disadvantaged students,it covers a portion of tuition fees and living expenses. 4.State Government Scholarships: Awarded to students from specific categories like minorities and economically disadvantaged groups. IIM K offers opportunities such as internships, live projects, and placements allowing students to gain work experience and earn stipends

Campus Life :

IIMK's campus life is dynamic, with a diverse range of social events and world-class facilities. Annual festivals like Echoes(cultural fest) in January and Horizons(management fest) foster community and provide opportunities for talent showcase and networking. The library provides a comprehensive variety of books and journals, available both physically and online, for academic and research requirements. There are Sports facilities accessible, such as basketball, tennis, etc. Students-run clubs promote entrepreneurship, consulting, cultural, and hobby-based interests, organizing workshops, guest lectures, and social events that enrich student life and foster leadership skills. IIM K provides a well-rounded campus experience, combining academic rigor with social engagement, extracurricular activiities, and modern infrastructure to nurture well-rounded individuals ready for the corporate world

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms are equipped with basic amenities such as a bed, study table, chair, wardrobe, and attached bathroom. For girls, there are either single occupancy rooms with no AC or shared rooms with 3 members per room with AC. The hostel rooms are allocated randomly. The quality of food in the mess is satisfactory

Admission :

Minimum 60% overall in a bachelor's degree or 50% in a CA,CMA or CS program to be eligible.IIMK accepts students to its PGP using CAT. Candidates must score above the IIMK threshold. The examination is normally held in November. It is safe to secure more than 98% for the general category. The application form is made available in January following the release of CAT results.Candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT scores, academic performance, professional experience, and diversity. Shortlisted candidates go through WAT and PI rounds, which assess their communication skills and suitability for programme. The ultimate decision is based on WAT performance, PI,CAT score, academic background, and professional experience.Selected candidates are given an offer letter and have a set amount of time to complete necessary paperwork.Cutoff scores change annually based on CAT difficulty and candidate performance.Waiting for results of each stage was difficult due to uncertainty and anxiety involved

Interview Experience :

GD wasn't part of the process this year, I encountered WAT and PI, which scrutinized my communication skills, analytical thinking, and program suitability. In WAT, the topic is "Serendipity". I composed an essay, emphasizing the transformative role of chance encounters. The focus was on demonstrating critical thinking, logical structure, and clear expression despite pressure. The PI spanning 30-40 minutes, commenced with introduction, probed my academic background, career aspirations, and MBA motivations. As a fresher, my commitment to the MBA path and strategic goals were of interest. The interview delved into marketing trends like Instagram marketing, Zomato business model, and basic electrical engineering concepts. Being well-rounded and current affairs-savvy helped tackle diverse topics. Preparation involved staying updated on current events, practicing communication skills and highlighting personal uniqueness. Confidence, coupled with openness, was key in approaching the process.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd semester, students are eligible for campus placements. The companies include federal bank ICICI Bank, Turn B, DHL, Reliance, Kellogg's, and Kimji Ramdas. The highest package was done by Kimji Ramdas for around 21 lakhs per annum. Around 90% of students are placed. My plan is to get placed after the completion of the course.

Placement Experience:

The students start their placement process once they are in 4th term as they will have their mock interviews starting. In the 5th term, companies started to visit the campus. Since the placement is for all three campuses of XIME students need to go to Bangalore to give their interviews. Companies like Soc Gen, EY, Oracle, and KPMG come to campus offering good salaries. The highest placement for 2022 was 15.4 lakhs and the average was 10.2 lakhs. this year even tho there is a recession going on the institute is bringing in good companies for placement with the highest placement being 14.2 lakhs and the average is around 9.4 lakhs with 40 percent of the batch being placed. For me, I will definitely try to get a placement that has a record of 100 percent placement. If not then I will do my further studies abroad.

After 3rd semester students are eligible for campus placements and to seek jobs outside. Some of the companies visiting our college are 90+ tuition apps, BOSS motors, Electro mech enterprise etc. There are many job fairs also been conducted in our college. The placement percentage is low but some of the students get placed in great companies with good packages above 5-6L per annum. My plan is to attend campus placement in 3rd sem and get placed.
