Student's Review On IIMK - Indian Institute Of Management, Kozhikode

The college is one of the finest college for MBA in India. It is regarded as the fifth best IIM of the country. I leveraged my selection opportunity to get into management and earn a higher salary.Based on the flawed marketing and placements reports of IIM, I got manipulated and attracted towards their fake marketing.

I think that the course is not updated and the faculties are not good enough to provide industrial exposure. The fee we pay is about 20 lakhs for sub standard education. The syllabus is same from last many years , it has never been updated because the faculties cannot change themselves with changing time. Some of the faculties like Mr Arqum Mateen, Mr Atanu Adhikari , Kapil Verma are really good. The academic rigours is very forceful and daunting for the students. Academics in a way add zero to mo value to the students when it comes to Industry skills and placements. It is not worth pursuing MBA from IIM Kozhikode

I have interned with Titan Comapany Limited in the sales and marketing department. The process to get internship is very clear. Companies come for summer placements and they conduct their rounds. Titan particularly has a chairman GD , followed by PI . The process is very small for the internship . The stipend amount cannot be disclosed due to some norms .

Placements and job opportunities are pathetic due to very high batch size I.e 480 students. The placement process is managed by a team of students who always look for their self motives. As a result of which they are the only people who get good opportunities and other students suffer. All the big firms hiring in India visit IIMK. Profiles ranging from investments banker , Associate Consultant, Marketing Manager , Credit Manager, Product Manager to Supply chain managers are offered

There are many events that are done in college. There are 20 clubs and committees in IIMK. Each has it's own events wherein many speakers to entertainers are invited. Participation is almost internal and only the community of IIMK are the audience in it.

Facilities in the campus are pretty amazing. It has every possible facility you hope for. But you pay for it higher than they are worth of. Sports infrastructure is not up to the mark . The college doesn't have it's own ground for the students to accommodate. Apart from this college has amazing hostels , mess infrastructure, wifi set up and one of the best libraries of the country . Mess food in particular is pathetic and is very expensive. We don't get the option to opt out of it, even if we don't want to eat there

Every student gets to stay in hostel in IIMK. The process to avail the hostel is very easy and well managed. There are two types of hostels . Single room and double room occupancy. Single room doesn't have AC and furniture in it while double rooms have AC, attached washrooms and furniture. But the cost of occupancy in double rooms in pretty high. You have to pay for AC separately and connection separately. Every hostel is provided with automatic washing machines and water coolers to facilitate easy life for the students
