- Coding culture of IIT roorkee is very good but is also disadvantage for someone who dont want to do IT related job but due to peer pressure he do.
- Extra circular activities of IIT roorkee are too good . like one can do anything he like to do in cultural or sport activity . he can follow his passion of doing anything.
Dislikes
- Academic system of IITR is not going advanced with the time like even today they teach us Engineering drawing like we have advanced machine so no need to do this.
- 75 % Mandatory attendence system is not good because many students don't learn in the class rather that they can study by themselve so 75 % attendence should not be there.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I will not rate the course curriculum that much because like my course is mechanical engineering and even after being a core student maximum of my branch mates are studying Web d , DSA like they know that they can only get their job in IT companies because core companies comes in very less quantity or even with much fewer package And the practical activities in the departments are much older like there is a course named engineering drawing ther is no need to teach this course for 6 months like most of the work is now happen on the computers so they should not make this on a simple chart paper with a scale and a pencil
Internships Opportunities :
Many companies visit campus to provide internship opportunities to pre final year students HUL (hindustan uniliver limited ) - for mechanical core management supply chain , they wants good CGPA and also POR( position of responsibily ) To know your managing skills offers 1.5 lakh per month Tata - also it is exclusively for mechanical people offering a stipend of 1 lakh per month Axis bank - Analytics ( 40k per month ) Projects play major roles in intern season if you show them related projects to the feild then it will be easier for you to get the opportunity.
Placement Experience :
Like my course is 4 years and students start getting on-campus internship opportunities in their pre-final year. They can also do off-campus internships in their 2nd year but prefers on-campus opportunities many Companies of IT like Microsoft, google, and Graviton visit campus for hiring and they give decent packages and are also open for all students like if you are a circuital branch then surely you can a decent package if you do a little bit of hard work during your degree The highest package gone last year was around 2.5 cr offered to 4 CSE students and the average package of my branch is about 15 lakh per year For mechanical engineering total of 110 students placed out of 150 branch strenght . My plans are after degree are at a bit of government job side like UPSC due to family reasons
Fees and Financial Aid :
the total fees without any scholarship in our college is about 1.5 lakh per semester but iff you family income is less than 5 lakh then you will have to pay 66% of the tution fees and if your family income is less than 3 lakh per year then you will only have to pay 33% of the tution fee and if your family income is even less than 1 lakh then your tution fees will be waived and the process is so simple and even with 1.5 lakh the facilities you are provided are enough .
Campus Life :
The culture in IIT's is way better designed that involves to develop the overall development if a student . talking about my college we have an annual cultural fest named thomso and also an annual technical fest named Cognizance . students come from all over the India to showcase their talents Our institute has a big library named Mahatma Gandhi Central Library here several books from every department can be found so no need to buy extra book during studies also literature section is there and books are available in Hindi classrooms are well-settled with high-end technologies also sports Facility is well good flood lights are also installed in the grounds and regular branch and college level sports tournaments helds regularly Club culture is also very popular many clubs for programming and robotics are there so anyone can explore his talent in his interest.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility is quite decent one good thing is that routers are installed in the whole hostel so you can access wifi seamlessly and also sanitation facilities are good. Mess quality is below average only the breakfast is eatable. lunch and dinner are below the expectation label. The registration process is quite simple we can get with our college registration. So overall I rate good as residing in a hostel only the issue is food if it is good then I can rate it the best. Also inter , intra hostel tournaments are there to make everyone engaged in all feilds
Admission :
Admission process of my college is based on a country wide exam named JEE first you will have to give JEE mains after which you will be qualified to JEE advanced approx 2 lakh students out of 10 lakh are qualified then you will give JEE advanced and apporox 16000 students out of 10 lakh students got into IIT . the cutoff varies year to year according to difficulty of exam and the exam pattern is not same at all if you want to get into IIT then you all have to be good in all of the three subject ( Physics chemistry and maths ) JEE Advanced happens only once in a year and one can give maximum of only two attempts of jee advanced
