Course Curriculum Overview :
This course provides vast opportunities in many fields . The faculty : student ratio is about 1:21. The faculty members have a lot of qualification , usually completed PhD , and the teaching methods reflect a lot of their knowledge and skills in the fields
Internships Opportunities :
Students avail the internship opportunities in their 3rd year. Some students bag foreign internships alongside domestic internships. The stipend ranges from 10000 per month to even around 50000 per month.
Placement Experience :
From the 7thn semester students are eligible for campus placements however several PPOs are also offered to the students . Big multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Quantbox, TSMC, McKinsey , etc. visit the campus . The number of offers made is over 1600. The average package is around 20 lacs and with over 70 job profile being offered. The placement percentage is 100 for those who do not opt for higher studies. My plans include doing masters in a top university in USA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure for BTech is around Rs 140000 per semester including mess and hostel fees which round up to around 35000 per semester. The remaining fees which is the tuition fees is around Rs 100000 per semester.
Campus Life :
IIT Kharagpur organises the two fests annually which usually takes place in the month of January. The tech fest named Kshitij and the annual fest named Spring Fest is held. Almost all books related to science and engineering are available in the library and one can easily avail the facility. All forms of sports and extracurricular activities are facilitated to the students. There are many societies which are run by students.
Hostel Facilities :
In first year either double sharing or triple sharing rooms are available in hostel . The amenities include a bed and a cupboard. The meal is served 4 times a day and the quality is moderate to decent, the menu varies every day per week. The hostel charges coupled with the mess chargs stands at around 35000 per semester.
Admission :
IIT Kharagpur is one of the most renowned universities for engineering and the admission is conducted through the famous JEE Advanced entrance exam where huge number of students appear to grab a place in the prestigious IITs. Students require intense preparation during their school days to clear this exam . JEE Advanced is considered as one of the toughest exam in the world. One needs to first qualify the JEE Mains exam after which he or she is eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. A student has only two attempts to clear this exam in consecutive years after which one cannot appear. The application form for this exam is available in the official website of the IIT conducting in that year and can be filled only if one qualifies the JEE Mains exam. The application fees for this examination in the year 2023 was Rs 2800. The application date is usually fixed two weeks prior to the exam. The qualified students can appear for counselling process.
