Brief about the life at MIT Manipal

Dislikes

  • Some students who don't focus into studies get in to wrong stuff like clubbing, smoking, drinking which is made very normal here.

Course Curriculum Overview :

So I had option to choose many courses but I chose IT because I had good reviews about the course from this institute as it was the first course offered by the college. The faculty is very nice and helpful if you're into studies. There is one teacher guardian per 15 students which again is a very good thing as these teachers help you a lot with your academics. Also the faculty is well qualified from some of the big institutes. The exam pattern is really good. There are 2 exams - midsems and endsems. There is good competition for students to work hard and achieve good results in the college.

Internships Opportunities :

There are many big names such as Cisco whose president is an alumini of our company. Also companies like Google, Microsoft and Samsung offer great internships. There are clubs that also provide international internships. Then there are some student projects that boost your records and help you get a better placement. overall the college gives you many opportunities, it depends upon you how you utilise them.

Placement Experience :

The placement about which I've heard are pretty good. The college invites many big recruiters and help a lot in placing the students. There is a special placement team of students itself that help others to sit in placements according to the requirements of the companies. A good percentage of students get placed every year(80-90%). My plans after getting a degree are to either get placed in a very good company with a good salary and if not then I'll pursue MBA from abroad.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees structure is pretty decent according to a private college. For the first year your fees is less but from the second year, you spend almost 6-7 lakh per year. If a student can't afford, the college provides help with student loan and ensures that every student gets the same kind of treatment.

Campus Life :

First comes the tech fest which is usually held in the month of October where all the technical as well as non technical clubs present their ideas. Also there are many activities which attract students to learn and have fun during the fest. Then comes the cultural fest called "Revels" which usually takes place in the month of March. This is a great event where students can enjoy with their friends and watch some artists showcase their talent. Except all of that, there are many activities held in the classrooms. The college gives a great importance to sports as there are almost all the sports played here. Also some clubs are there which can help you grow both mentally and physically.

Hostel Facilities :

The college provides many hostel options from the first year itself. The hostel commodities are really nice as the rooms are spacious and clean(if you keep them). Attached bathrooms, regular cleaning and many more facilities (depending upon your hostel). Hostels are affordable and you also pay your mess charges once you're paying for your hostel. The most famous mess here is the food court 2(my mess). The food there is nice. No complaints about the food have yet been received.

Admission :

There was an entrance exam called MET. We had to fill the application and then apply for the exam which was held on our nearby exam centres. It had two attempts. The cutoff went pretty well as I was in IT and the cutoff was around 3000 rank. I didn't avail any reservation. I pretty much like the admission procedure as there is transparency and your hard work decides the score and rank you get. You can find the application form on MIT Manipal's website.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are good. From 3 rd year, students are eligible to sit in the placements. Most IT companies visit the college like Accenture, TCS, Amazon, cognizant, etc. Few core companies also came like Texas instruments, kpit, global foundries, Bosch, etc. The average package is 4.5 LPA and the highest is 22 LPA for my branch. 60% of people in my department got placement.

In the final year, students can sit for placements. There were many IT companies like Capgemini, Mindtree, EY, EXL, Epsilon, etc. For mechanical only 3 companies they are L&T, Quest global, Apex auto. Placements were good for CS/IS branches.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placements from the final year. A few companies visited when I was studying about 12-15 MNCs companies visited all were product-based and I think the highest package was 7.5 LPA. As the Corona pandemic started college was closed and companies didn't visit afterward. There is less number of companies visiting our college all are looking more for Cs graduates less or no EC core companies visit. I am planning to pursue M tech

Remarks:

It is positive. Candidates appearing in the 12th exams in 2019 can apply. Diploma candidates can also apply but only for admission in IITs. There is no minimum mark required to apply for JEE Main. Candidates have to secure 75% (65% for SC/ST) in 12th exams or be in top 20 percentile of the respective board.
