Review of First year College student of GCOEN

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have chosen Electronics and Telecommunication Course. I have chose this course because I want to get knowledge about Core sector and IT sector both and ETC is the only course which deals wigh both Core sector and IT sector and I think this college is great for core branches. If we talk about faculty: student ratio then as a first year student I don't know much about further year faculties but for a first year I think the ratio is good because for 5 branches there are 5 different maths teachers, 5 different Physics teachers etc. And there qualification is also like high almost all permanent teachers are M-tech or M.E. graduates from good colleges some are MPSC Qualified some are PHD graduates and There teaching are I can say more than average like good. If we talk about term exams then you should know that This is non-atonomous college affiliated to Nagpur University so term exams are conducted by RTMNU and they are quite on difficult/hard side

Internships Opportunities :

There are lots of internship chances you can achieve after 6th semester as a first year student I don't know much more about internship in this college but As I heard from seniors there are many chances for internship but you have to work hard for that like you have learn many skills and gain knowledge about your field and your CGPA should be more that atleast 7

Placement Experience :

Just after 6th semester students are eligible for campus placements. There are no. of companies visit for placement like infosys, adani , TCS, wipro etc highest package varies all time like in 2022 that is 21 LPA and in this year till now its 9LPA but average package of this college is better than lots of colleges which is 5.6 LPA and percentage of students getting placement is also very good which varies around 40-80% branch wise and overall 60-70% Last year highest percent placement is of Electrical engineering which around 80-85% as I said this college is too good for core branches and for CS that's also good which is 65-75% highest package till now any student got is said to be 44LPA in 2021of ETC branch but that was off campus by Sony but that student get this package just after his graduation. My decision has not made yet of what to do after getting degree but may be I will go for higher graduation

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

If you are from general/open category then fees are around 27000 which are very less compared to other engineering colleges and if you get TFWS seat then fees are around 13350. And concession in fees are as per government rules like for OBC 50% Off in tuition fees, for SC/ST 100%Off in tuition fees, Etc and there are all government conducted scholarships are available in which college also helps you to get that. There are separate scholarship department for that purpose.

Campus Life :

There are lots of annual fest and tech fest conducted in our college like Adhyaya tech fest held in february, Oranz and Sfoorti annual fest held in month of february, Drashti another tech fest of Mechanical engineering students, Dholida which is garba event , ganeshotsav held by boys hostel and much more. There is a big library in our college which have lots of books to read and research. Classrooms are too good and modern which have ability to teach from PPTs . There are lots of clubs for extra curricular activities like Dance, Music, Drama, Google Developer students club, Automobile club, Drone club, Robotics club , Rotract club , Codaxian club, Etc and many more. For sport there is big fest in our college as I mentioned above which is Sfoorti Held in month of february other that that there are also University games/ championship which has lots of variety of games in which we have to compete with other colleges in this University.

Hostel Facilities :

One thing I don't like about this college is their hostel management because there are limited seats available for hostel which is for boys 9 students per branch and just 4 are for general category and for girls only 5 girls per branch and 2-3 are for general category. Hostel room is for 2students per room for which you get 2 bed 1 cupboard and 2 study tables room size is just average and hostel mess quality for me its just average or below average. And yes one good thing about the hostel is that is much affordable like hostel fees are just 5000rs per year and mess fees are 200per month. If you want room in PG then there are lots of PG rooms available in college locality

Admission :

Admission is via CAP which means Centralized Admission Process and and It requires to qualify MHT-CET exam with certain percentile which is increasing every year and also have to qualify 12 board exam. You can take admission to direct 2nd year by qualifying Polytechnic also with certain percentile. You can get application form on MHT-CET portal. This is Government college so you have lots of reservation benefits. I think there are 40-50% seats reserved for different categories and their fees are also very less compared to general category

Students become eligible for placement from 7th sem but the training and stuff starts from 5th sem onwards. I don't really know much about the placements since I'm not planning on doing job after graduation and probably gonna do masters in the future.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So to be honest B.E course is a 4 years engineering course and it is not that easy and not too hard also. It needs a lot of focus, hardwork and practice to clear all exams. There are bunch of students who takes admission in B.E in first year but most of the students do back off in second year or some of them gets failed and gets an year drop. B.E course can be more efficient if we follow the teaching pattern like abroads. Less theory more practicals for students to understand properly.

From 7th and majorly form the 8th semester the students become eligible for the campus placement. Every year many companies visit our college like Goldman Sachs, Google, Infosys ,TCS , oracle, etc and offer a great amount of package to many students many students even get PPO. The highest package of this year was somewhere 61LPA and the average was 9 LPA. Somewhere around 82-83% students were placed this year and with good amount of packages My plan after getting the degree is pursuing a master's degree in abroad
