- I loved the campus and its size, it is the biggest IIT in India and it is also a green campus. This is much better compaired to other colleges in my humble opinion
- I also loved the senior junior interaction and the most helpful seniors that I have ever got
Dislikes
- There is nothing that someone can dislike about this place except for reservation to get admissions.
- There is again nothing that anyone can dislike.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I had JEE MAIN rank 17k and JEE ADVANCED Rank 9k. So, I could have got some good NITs but choosing IIT Kharagpur was the best idea for my case since it has a much better peer group and coding culture. The faculty is awesome here the student to faculty ratio is 1:180 in first year but it would eventually decrease in subsequent years. The faculty is world class in matters of knowledge and of course they have their PHDs in terms of degree. Even out teaching assistants are PHD scholars.
Internships Opportunities :
One can have internship in two ways either through CDC or through other means like getting internship from outside campus. There is always a criteria for internship that is a 7.5+ CGPA or some skill that is important but I cannot give 100% accurate details as I am a fresher.
Placement Experience :
I am just a fresher and placement is a matter of third year. I don't have the accurate information but it is undertaken by CDC of campus and they have all the know how to make some students place comms and conduct the process. As per my plan, I plan to pursue my studies further and become an expert in this field to land myself a decent package and learn coding just in case. However, everyone gets placed in our college (almost)
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees is waived for a student if they belong to economically weaker sections of society or if there is a family problem in a student's family and the amount waived is a matter of administration hence I cannot provide a sure answer on it and of course they have lower fees for reserved categories. Fortunately, I don't have a situation wherein I require a fee waiver and also I am not eligible for the same. Also, money is not a matter of a student and IIT does not ever bother a student for it. So, pardon my lack of interest and knowledge for the question.
Campus Life :
Here at IIT we have 2 main fest, that is spring fest and Kshitij. There are alot of societies like Buisness Club, 180 DC, The Scholar's Avenue, SF, Kshitij, Kodein, Computer Graphics Society, MASK, Technology Rap Society and so on. You name an activity there is a society. On the sports front we have indoor court for badminton and state of the art facility for all other sports. There is also a squash court, tennis court, volley ball court, Basket ball court, football ground and cricket ground. There is also a Atheletics ground and a swimming pool. I hope I have mentioned everything. We have a very big library and don't worry about books there is more than anybody could ever need.
Hostel Facilities :
Number of students in a room can be almost three and atleast one. There are various hostels and each have a different menu. We have food that can help in accomodating each every student of varying backgrounds. As for registration everything is taken care by administration.
Admission :
The admission is through JEE ADVANCED exam and you have to be the nation's top 1.4% approximately to get into this institution. I have no reservation benefits. I am not sure of the application fees but everything is available on nta and jee advanced website. Only scope for improvement is removal of reservations.
