  • Our time schedule is a little bit tight.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have chosen to do this course mainly because of my interest in the subjects Biology and Maths. Since Food Technology had both biology-related subjects along with Mathematics, I opted for it. Our faculty members are highly qualified with most of them having a Ph.D. Their teaching methods are extremely good and they cover every small topic thoroughly. Moreover, they help and guide us a lot regarding our projects and in writing and publishing research papers. We have in total three exams in one semester- two unit tests and the final exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college also provides internship opportunities, both free as well paid. The faculty members are really helpful and guide us in this matter. To gain practical experience, we are also taken on industrial visits by the college. We were recently taken on an industrial visit to the Winkies.

Placement Experience :

The placements in our college are quite good. More than 90% of students get placed in good companies. All our seniors have been placed in good companies and some have even opted for higher studies. Some of the companies visiting the college include Capgemini, Keventer, Nestle, TCS, etc. The salary packages varies from 300000 to 500000 per annum.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The total fee for this course is around 408000. Our college provides scholarships such as the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship(SVMCM) to help students from weaker economic backgrounds. For financial assistance, the college provides a tuition fee waiver for special cases.

Campus Life :

Our college hosts a lot of cultural fests as well as tech fests like Tesseract, Food Envision, and Zyzzva where the students are given the opportunity to participate in any activities of their choice. Other than these, there are a lot of clubs in our college which are open to all the students irrespective of their streams. Some of these clubs are drama club, literary club, media club, eco club, sports club, and music club. As for sports and extracurricular activities, the college hosts an annual sports competition and other sports tournaments.

Admission :

To get admission to the course, B.Tech in Food Technology, the student must have physics, chemistry, and mathematics as their core subjects in class 12. They must have scored at least 45% in each of these subjects. The ranks of the entrance examinations such as WBJEE and JEE Main are accepted by the college at the time of the admission process. The application form is available on the college's website. Besides this, all the other details regarding the fee structure and course along with the application submission date are updated on the website.

Placement Experience:

At the end of the 6th Semester many MNCs and startups like CTS, TCS, Virtusa, Wipro, etc visit our campus for internship opportunities as well as pre-placement offers. Most of the students do crack some or other internship opportunities and get in-hand industry experience. For our batch the highest offer we received is 7LPA and the average package ranges at about 4.5 - 3.5LPA ! Almost everyone does get placed, but the average ranges at about 70%-80%.

Remarks:

The area Berhampur has some communication issues, you can only get connected with Kolkata. College is also too small in size. Labs can be better. The money, which is coming from the government, is not utilised perfectly. Other things are good here.
