Remarks :
I guess, COEP is worth to take admission in every aspect. Faculty can be an issue in some cases but considering Lab facilites, curriculum, extra curricular activities, co-curricular activites, COEP is doing really good. Admission in COEP requires good marks in CET.
Entrance Preview :
COEP is the best engineering college in Maharashtra. I got admission in this college via CET. I secured 194/200 marks in MH-CET . COEP Mechanical is one of the most reputed department in whole Maharashtra. I took admission in this college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
COEP is an autonomous institute. It has quite liberty to design its own curriculum. Curriculum in COEP is designed considering changes in need of current industries and need of students. There are many like Biological machines, Professional Ethics which are not available in other colleges. Regular departmental course syllabus is also designed to fulfil all industrial needs.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes. After third year of academics, many students do summer internships. Students can approach industries independently or via college also. Many renowned companies like Mahindra, John Deer, Premier are approached by college so that students get internships there. Usual range of stipend is 4000 to 10000 Rs. per month.
Placement Experience :
Many well-known companies like Mahindra, TCS, Ford, Mercedes, John Deer, Tata Motors, Amazon, Flipkart, Uber, Snapdeal come to college for recruiting college students. Almost all students who are willing to get placed get placed. Usual package for Mechanical students is 5 LPA. (lacs per annum). Usual package for Computer/IT students is 8 LPA. Maximum package last year was 23 LPA.
College Events :
There are many cultural, technical and sports events planned throughout academic year. Also guest lectures are scheduled from many eminent personalities. COEP has held 3 world record events also. The annual technical event is Mind-Spark which attracts all the engineering talent from all over Maharashtra. Also, ZEST is annual sports event which is celebrated in the month of January.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
COEP is a government institute. It has less fees compared to other private institutions. Hostel and College fee are the only 2 major components of fees. College fee is approximately 65000 and hostel fee is approximately 20000. The fee structure keeps on changing every year. Mess bill is charged monthwise.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As a good placement is guaranteed when you take admission in COEP, many banks are ready to provide loan at the time of admission process. Also, there are a number of scholarships which a student can avail. IOCL, Vinod Doshi, Rajarshi shahu Scholarship are one of these few to mention. Also Alumni Association provides scholarship to needy students.
Campus Life :
COEP admits very diverse range of studets. The students from all over Maharashtra take admission in college. Also there is quota for NRI students. Campus life is superb and college atmosphere is student friendly. COEP has many clubs like RSC, BAHA, SUPRA, History. These clubs have earned many prizes in national as well as international competitions. And COEP also has launched satellite last year with the help of ISRO.
Hostel Facilities :
COEP provides hostel facility right in the heart of Shivaji nagar. Hostel facility is quite good. There is issue of bedbugs though. Free WiFi for students is available throughout hostel campus. Mess provides a reasonable quality food. It is affordable compared to outside food facilities. There is provision for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
Alumni/Alumna :
COEP has one of the best alumni network. COEP alumni are working in different fields at renowned position. India's first Engineer sir Vishveshwaraiah is alumni of COEP. Alumni keep on visiting college and help students in every possible way. As I already mentioned, they also offer financial help in form of scholarship to needy students.
Exam Structure :
As COEP is an autonomous institute, it has designed its own curriculum and exam structure. There are 3 exams for each subject in a semester. Test 1, Test 2 and End semester. Test 1 and 2 carry 20 marks each and End semester exam carries 60 marks weightage.
Admission :
As I already mentioned, Admission to this college can be taken by Common Entrance Exam also known as MH-CET. Any student studying in any Maharashtra Board can appear for MH-CET after H.S.C. Board exam. I appeared for MH-CET after H.S.C. in 2011 in the month of April.
Faculty :
COEP college faculty is one of the best faculty one may say. Most of the Faculty is well educated with Ph.D. Degree. They are able to solve any doubts of students any time. However, there are few faculties who are not up to the mark. I think, overall faculties are quite good.
