  • Due to covid the semester has been reduced to four months which cause stress to the student

Course Curriculum Overview :

I was interested in aerospace engineering and since I didn't get admission to the best college for aerospace I decided to take mechanical engineering at SSN as it is related to aerospace engineering. All the faculty in SSN are Ph.D. holders and their teaching is also very good. At a gap of one or one and a half months, we have the CAT exam ( internal exam). It's not very difficult to pass if we study well it will be easy.

Internships Opportunities :

Since I'm in my second year I have not yet attended any internship. I have heard from my seniors that they provide internships from the third year. We can apply to any company that is provided by our department.

Placement Experience :

From the 6th-semester placement starts in SSN. The company the visits mechanical department are caterpillar, TVs, dove chemical, Amazon, etc... The highest package is around 18 lakhs-20 lakhs per annum and the average package is between 6 lakh-8 lakh. The Percentage of students getting placements is around 96% and the rest takes higher education. I plan is to continue my ME in aerospace engineering.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The annual college fee is 2,22,250. There are lots of scholarships the college provides like 1. Complete free education for complete four years for a rural students who studied in a government school 2. Sports scholarship 3. Merit cum mean scholarship 4. Merit Scholarship- for that student who performed well for a year. SSN also provides education loans.

Campus Life :

The annual fest is mostly conducted in the first half of the year called- Instincts. The tech fest is conducted in November- December called INVENTION. All the book related to the subject is available and also fiction, novel, and nonfiction book are available. Sports actives like football, handball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, etc are available. The clubs include NSS, YRC, NSO, and SSN have different clubs for different departments and activities. The social website includes SSN Talents, SMC- Music club, dance club (N2K), etc

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel room has a single cort bed, a study table, a chair, a cupboard, and a shelf. The quality of food is pretty ok for the price (100/day)and the menu continues every week. During the admission process, there is an option for a hostel you can select for registering for a hostel room. The hostel is inside the college itself.

Admission :

I didn't take any entrance exams. I got admission via tnea(Tamilnadu engineering admission). They do have a management seat for which you have to undergo an entrance examination and an interview process. The details about the process of admission are available on SSN official website. They do have a reservation for 25 rural students who studied in a government school and also for another category.

It's a name that almost every student get places in this college. They have high placement record. But during recession time it's a bit tough for people to secure good jobs. People having jobs currently are makin sure their job is safe . So now irrespective of college during recession period it's hard to get a good high paying software job. It alll depends on our skill. We need to develop it

Remarks:

The management should take care of the college and should try to improve the surrounding in which it is situated. The higher authorities of the university should visit this campus on a regular basis and should always keep a check on the functioning of the system.
