Remarks
The admission process was based on our JEE Mains rank and through JAC CHANDIGARH Counseling. College does not have home-state benefits but it has various other reservations based on the category of students. There are specially mentioned seats for foreign students and students who belong to the border area or they are Kashmiri migrants. The sports category is also available there are some terms and conditions applied to it. Disabled/cancer patients students also have their reserved seats in it. Admission process is smooth u will get time to time updates on jac Chandigarh website.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have an interest in computer science and engineering so I chose this course and the placement of this course is the highest among the others. The course syllabus is good where u can learn various skills in the course itself. Some professors are really good but some of them are terrible but it's not the case in our college only most of the colleges have the same issue but students study on their own to get marks. The student ratio is almost 8:1 in CSE u can see a good ratio in IT and Mech. It is Engineering so can't expect more from it. Exams are really quick for 1st year due to the late academic session further from 2 nd year it is not that hectic. The paper level is good enough and is intentionally made hard for students so they should not score much. But it depends on the Teacher too.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are not provided by the college. You can only get an internship through off-campus hiring. There is a summer training program that is compulsory for 1st-year students in which they have to make projects on their own.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester, students become eligible for campus placement. There are various companies that visit our college some of them are KPMG, AMAZON, DELOITTE, SAMSUNG, AMERICAN EXPRESS, TCS, INFOSYS, etc. The highest off-campus placement is 48 lakhs and on-campus is 32 lakhs. The average package is an overall of 9.52 lakh. Students of CSE and IT branch gets most of the good placement offers. Mechanical students generally prepare for the gate. Student can change their branch after 1st year with the help of the PUmEET EXAM. Almost 75 percent of the students get placed every year. My plan is to get a good placement from college or from an off-campus placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
This college is under state government so one of the boons is it has very low fees as compared to other colleges. Not only college fees but other resources fees like hostel fees and various fees are comparatively very low than other colleges. College provides scholarships to girl children and students who belong to the Economically weaker section and various other scholarships are available. Campus placements are fine and not that high but its okay as college is in its growing stage.
Campus Life
Panjab University campus life is really awesome it has two campuses one in the North and another in the south. UIET is on the south campus which does not have many amenities but on the North campus, u will get everything you want it has every sports amenity which u can think of. Goonj is an annual festival that happens every year and various small events also take place every year. There are various clubs in our college like GDSC, IEEE, STAR, TPNC, ROBOTICS, JUGAAD, BHANGRA, DANCE, MAG BOARD, MITRA, PSYCHOLOGY, and many more. So u can take in as much as club u can. UIET has its own library on its campus which has a sufficient amount of books that u will require in your course. Other than this whole Panjab University has its Library AC JOSHI LIBRARY which is open 24×7 and it has a very good atmosphere to study in its reading room. Classrooms are average having a green board and a projector screen. With old benches. Star has its own website and all clubs have their own account on Instagram.
