Welcome to IITM

Remarks :

Eligibility is valid JEE mains rank card. Communication is mainly through emails, it could be better if a message is given during Josaa, do check your emails. I didn't know that mail would be that important and missed some important mail.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very well organized. You can opt for any program and then you can still manage to do courses of your choice from other programs. And also faculties are highly educated mostly Ph.D. from foreign universities with at least 4-5 years of experience in the field. Overall in one Class max seat capacity is 80 but that is also not full because of the variety of courses so it's easy for faculties to manage also. Exams are frequent and you must be prepared before itself.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship team takes care of getting companies for the intern season. Most of the roles in the intern season are only based on coding and core profiles sometimes. Companies like Flipkart, Zomato, Bain, BCG, Boston, Goldman, and Microsoft come and offer PM and Coding roles.

Placement Experience :

Most of the students get placements. Generally, the offers made are more than the graduating students of that year. Some students get involved in startup culture before the placements. Placements go as higher as 1 crore per year and as low as 8 lakhs per year (usually core). For campus placement, you need to be in the pre-final year of college. From the track record of the placements team, last 3 years they have given up to 100% placements. This 100% is those people who applied for placements session. I plan to do a decent job and then switch to management.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are divided into 3 categories - general, obc, sc/st. In each category, there is further segregation based on parental annual income with bases as less than 1 LPA, 1lpa to 5 LPA, and more than 5lpa. And for economically weaker students there are numerous scholarship opportunities shared through emails.

Campus Life :

Campus life is amazing. The nightlife of this campus is worth exploring. In January starting the fests Saarang, shastra Ecell are celebrated and throughout the year the Hindi Mitra Mandal organizes the celebration of all the festivals which engage people and bonding nights were very frequent in hostels. Sports, tv room, kitchen all these facilities are provided in the hostel itself. Fully Wi-Fi enabled academic section and LAN cables in each hostel room to experience uninterrupted high-speed data. The library is a 4-storey building, each floor equipped with lots of booking and seating capacity for at least 50 people on each floor.

Hostel Facilities :

Mess is separated from hostel they are not included in hostel building which is the best part that you can go and see new faces daily in mess and hostels all the basic facilities are available along with gym, tv room, Sports equipment, grounds, mineral water, daily cleaning services, Wi-Fi, etc. The quality of food is good sometimes and sometimes it's bad and the menu is really good having at least one - 2 items daily which you can eat. The prices are affordable and worth it.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
