Being a TSECite

Remarks :

The college is an excellent blend of academics and other activities and the teaching staff is also supporting. Happy to be a TSECite.

Entrance Preview :

I took The JEE mains exam and scored a 102/360. The college was decided according to the CAP rounds. The rankings included 50% board marks and 50% Jee mains marks. I got selected in the first round itself. The college being in Mumbai and amongst the most old colleges (1983). I accepted the college since it has the reputation for huge placements each year as well as a n experienced teaching faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum that is followed is decided by the Mumbai university. The curriculum is designed to give basic knowledge of electronics as well as telecommunication. The syllabus is well designed and advances as we go to the final years. The first year syllabus provides a basic knowledge of different fields. The focus of the syllabus is not to give detailedknowledge about any particular subject but to give a glimpse of each field since one has to go through 40+ subjects in his entire course. The last year includes selecting an elective subject of your choice.

Internships Opportunities :

The college is not yet having any such committee that can establish a platform for internships for students. But his year they have started a new initiative where the projects are displayed and judges from different fields are invited to find the best among all projects. At the end they share their thoughts and also tell what do they expect from the students at an industrial level.Soon, they are planning to create an internship cell too.

Placement Experience :

The amount of students placed every year by the college is really high. Most of the placements are offered by the IT companies and there is lack of core companies for electronics branch. The package allotted is averaging 4 lac per anum. the highest package every year might go upto 12 lac per anum and varies according to company requirements. The main companies that come every year are Infosys, Accenture, TCS, JIO,

College Events :

There are various committees in our college. That includes IETE, IEEE, CSI, NSS, Students council, Sports Committee, IEI. The commities like IEEE, IETE, CSI, IEI mostly organise tecnical events while NSS, Students council, Sports committee handel the non tecnical part.IEEE is well known world wide and doesn't need explanation while CSI and IETE are related to computers while IEI is chemical related. NSS does all social events like blood donation, street plays, etc. The student council organizes Trifles each year where a marathon and three days of famous personality shows are arranged.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is quite expensive if we compare it with the facilities provided however the area around the college is one of the best. The atmosphere of the college also is not just study but includes balancing academics with other activities. And that is the best part of the college one will be willing to pay that amount of fees too.The exposure to the outer world you get here and he freedom is invaluable.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are EBC scholarships for Maratha people with yearly income below 4 lac. Also there are variety of scholarships like Tata but you need to check that with the individual in office who has those details.

Campus Life :

Campus life is really awesome.we get to do many other activities apart from studies. The gender ratio 3:1 approximately. Lots of technical workshops are held by different committees. There is a reservation for Sindhi people. 51% Sindhi quota and 49% other. But this is only during admissions since after that every one is equal and all mix up with each other very well.

Hostel Facilities :

There is no hostel for the college and that is a ral issue when it comes to people staying away from Bandra and those who actually do not stay in Mumbai itself. They have to find accomdation themselves however the office helps you find one. There is also no space for a mess but a small canteen is present in the old building of the college. We prefer eating outside the college.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni is quiet helpful when it comes to placements. They come to the college sometimes and speak with the juniors and also share their experience outside. The network of TSEC is strong and stretches to different countries around the globe. The senior students share their experiences during the placements which helps the juniors to work on strengthening their profile.

Exam Structure :

The exam structure include two unit tests and an average of both is considered in the semester to add up. The unit test are of 20 marks for each subject and semester paper 80 marks. The first and last year are checked by the university while second and third year is with the college itself. However the question paper is created by the university itself for all years. The exams are organized well with 2 papers on a day and unit tests have a gap of almost more than a month. That was not hectic for me at-least.

Admission :

The DTE board had used CAP round method for alloting colleges to students based on their rankings in Maharashtra. We were asked to fill in the list of colleges in which we were interestedThe college was decided according to the CAP rounds. The rankings included 50% board marks and 50% Jee mains marks.I got TSEC as my alloted college and we had to confirm that within a week by going to the college.Once we had con

Faculty :

The teaching faculty is well qualified an experienced an help the students a lot. They always help whenever required.Every faculty member is highly educated but few of them lack the delivering abilities to keep all students interested. They will never leave any query unanswered if they know about it. They are not that strict but when it comes to attendance and you being a defaulter might face some inconvenience. They also allow you to spend your time in fests going on in the college only if you balance academics well. The faculty of EXT C department is the best I must say if you compare it with others.

Talking about placements, most of the placements occurs in CSE and IT branch, but surprisingly in the Government College of Engineering Aurangabad, the Mechanical branch has the same placements comparatively just the fact is that the package is less.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As every Diploma passing student enters to degree college same process I went through. The faculty of the college are well educated and hardworking. As a student, you have to reach out to your faculty and maintain a good relation with them to get constant support from them. the ratio is 25:1. The teaching method of professors is very professional. Exams are as per the government regulations and the difficulty level is moderate for general students.

Placement Experience:

Students are encouraged to take internships from the moment they are confident and can handle responsibility. They are eligible for placements after semester 4. Approximately 60+ companies visit the campus every year and they take an average of 4-5 offers. For instance, the highest package can be 40+lpa from Microsoft. 90-100% placements happen every year. My plan after getting the degree is to acquire a placement and work with the organization.
