Remarks :
For admission to IITs one has to take first jee main and then jee advanced. Admission is done on basis of rank obtained in jee advanced through the jossa portal which is basicallyfor admission to NITS, IITs and centrally/government funded institutions. Any student who has opted for PCM in their 10+2 are eligible provided a minimum percentage of 75 in 12th board exams. Every year the application formed is released on NTA website and jee advanced website. One can simply Google and reach to the site. Reservations for various category is provided like OBC,SC,ST and EWS. The admission process is fair and good and one working hard could easily get into these institutions.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branch of engineering. Most core companies recruit students from Mechanical departments so one can get good placement after CS/IT. Faculty student ratio is 1:15 which is very good. The Faculties at IIT Hyderabad are highly qualified and are more research oriented. The teaching method vary from professor to professor but generally all teacher respond positively to students learning needs. Fractal academics is followed at IITH which involves continuous evaluation through quizzes, assignments and tests. Any student who is studying regularly can get good grades in these pattern.
Internships Opportunities :
There are various internship opportunities available at IITH. Most of them are in the software domain or coding profile. ABB Global Industries and Services Pvt Ltd. Adobe, AGC Asia Pacific , Amazon , Apex Plus , Arcesium , BNY Mellon , Deloitte , DG Takano ,Goldman Sachs , Grid Edge Works , Honeywell are some of the companies offering internships. Average stipend varies between 60-80k per month. IITH is the first to allow semester long internships in which student can do internship for whole semester instead of the courses and credits for that. These makes students more industry ready.
Placement Experience :
The placement season for 2020-2021 was great despite the covid pandemic. 466 offers were made to 427 students which was 100% more than the last year. One is eligible for placement in 7 th sem however one can do internship before that. As many as 10 startups offered jobs to 36 candidates. Flipkart, Indeed, Infurnia, JP Morgan, Meesho, Microsoft NTT AT, Newzera, Silicon Labs, Suzuki Motor Corp, TSMC and Zomato were among the prominent recruiters at IIT-H. Seven companies also offered international offers in Japan and Taiwan. About 70% students get placed every year, others go for higher studies. I am thinking to go for placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees per semester is 1 lakh, for one year it is 2 lakh rupees. Additionally there is hostel and mess charges which are 50000 per year and may vary. However student from economically weaker family need not worry as their are various scholarships available. Students having income less than 5 lakh per annum get 2/3rd fees reimbursement, 1 lakh per annum gets 100%reimbursement of
Campus Life :
Elan and Nvision is the annual techno cultural fest of IITH which is conducted every year around March April. The fest is very large and unique with large participation, events and prizes. The library at IITH is temporary and is located at academic block. A new Knowledge center(library) is under construction, lecture hall complex with a unique design is also under construction. There are basketball, indoor badminton, squash court available, a large football ground is also there. The student gymkhana also run various clubs of dance, music, literary, robotic and much more as per students interests.
Hostel Facilities :
Being a new IIT the hostel are all brand new with great facilities. There is radiant cooling in hostel buildings which keep the room cool during hot summer also. Single occupancy rooms are given after 1st year. There is high speed internet wifi in hostel blocks. The mess food is above average in taste and is hygienic. Registration is done through online portal and fees is 50000 per year which is quite affordable.
