In our university,people who can excel in studies can go futher. I have seen students who are excel,good in studies is going for further studies and getting job of course i am not the one. So there are good and reputed faculties on all the departments. Yo
Entrance Preview :
I appeared for Pondicherry university P.G entrance examination and my rank was 121 and i joined in waiting list in OBC qouta in 2013. It is one of the premiere university for M.Sc geology in India. I joined in Department of earth science on course M.Sc Applied geology.
Course Curriculum Overview :
There is two type of courses. Hardcore,Softcore Hardcore coursed are compulsory subjects and softcore courses are optional and we can choosed any softcore courses from any department of our interest and fields. But we have to acheive some specific credits per semster and in whole too. So it's mainly credit based. The faculties of the Erath science department are very helpful and expereinced too. They are the mens behind the success of many students. Unforunately i am less successive than others.
Internships Opportunities :
In college stipend is offered to one boy and one girl,who were stood 1st and 2nd in the university entrance examination and they get almost rs 2000 per month. But we can apply other scholarship scheme of national level and state lever prior to the eligibility criteria provided by the competent authority.
Placement Experience :
There is no placment cell in our department. From last few years the placement is almost nill. So many people choose to opt for further reserach through UGC-NET or Ph.D entrance test. Many get jobs in PSUs through GATE score. Many go for G.S.I so job opportunities are there but you need right skills and talent to achieve that.
College Events :
Mostly all deaprtment organise fresher's day for newcomers and farewell day for outgoing students. Apart from these many departments organise conferences,acadmicss-industry relation conference and meetings. Apart from this many official events were organised but i don't recall more.apart from this every year a grand annual festival,fest is organised known as HOSTEL DAY. Also ganesh puja.saraswati puja is celebrated by students in the university premises.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure for the academic study was comparably high than the other central universities like JNU,AMU. But the fee structure is not much higher. A normal student can easily manage that. I paid almost 21000 for 1 year and almost 50000 was my total academic expenditure.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarship can be claimed in the respective state scholarship and national scholarship according to the eligibilty conditions. Except this there is no loan,scholarship offered by the university itself.
Campus Life :
The campus life was my memorable life. There are so many extracurricular activites going on the university.so people with interest on the particular activites can participate. Other than this there is a tennis court,basketball court is there. 2 big playground is there for sports lover. People from around every corner of states are studying there. But from kerala and puducherry 30% student hails. Except them rest are from odisha,westbengal,assam,meghalaya,manipur,nagaland,U.P.People are most friendly there. There were christian,Hindu,Muslims students. Also there is a SAARC study centre is there.where students from SAARC coutry come to study.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility is best in class. The hostels are located in the campus and not much distances from the departments and on the day there is bus transpaortation facility available around the campus.the campus is feels like in eco-friendly environment.
Alumni/Alumna :
In my university I didn't interact much with my seniors. But the alumni network in our department is very week. I didn't get much information about our senoirs who already passed out. So there is almost no alumni meet and interaction till now. But this year some students are planning to organise a alumni meet. I can't tell about other department.
Exam Structure :
My course was 2 years and consist of 4 semester. In every semseter there is 2 internal exam and 1 final exam and the marks are divided in 20:20:60 ratio for written exam. For practical,lab exam there is no such criteria. As it is credit based marking syst
