Remarks :

The campus and infrastructure is really good, it is a very beautiful campus with it's own beach Richt opposite the University Gate 2. Auroville is closeby and vehicles are allowed in campus.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The MSc Physics course is quite applied oriented, based on the Specializations available namely, Laser Physics, Electronics and Condensed Matter Physics. Scope for research in the Department is limited because not all students qualify for MSc Project, which depends on your GPA. The syllabus is at par with all National Level PhD exams and entrance tests, like CSIR-NET and GATE.

Placement Experience :

Placement is available but limited. SPi Global (Chegg. com) and TIME Puducherry are major recruiters.

College Events :

Hostel Day, Independence and Republic Days, Onam, Tamizhar Tirunal, Ugadi, Holi, Christmas, Durga Puja, Utkal Divas, Hindi Divas, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Ambedkar Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti, International Labour Day, Reflections, Vanicom, Wildlife week, Globizz, Freshers and Farewell for each department.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees structure is feasible, but it is still expensive compared to all other central universities. The hostel, mess fees and amenities fees are paid via Challan, while Academic and examination fees can be paid online via the Student Management Service account.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarships are available for Meritorious students, but the administration keeps changing the rules from time to time how to secure them. It depends from year to year, the Prospectus published by the university details all scholarships.

Campus Life :

Gender Ratio is maintained among students, but not in the recruitment of faculty. A lot of bias exists which can be clearly visible if one visits the administration block for any matter. There is a Sexual Harassment Cell, which is always late in handling any student issues, and the administration is generally not protective of student rights.

Hostel Facilities :

The new hostels are built using good infrastructure facilities, but lack of proper maintenance and callous attitude of students has degraded them. Most students are placed three-in-a-room basis, with common toilets.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes, alumni groups exit on Social media like Facebook. Some of them work in firms abroad and are even completing their Doctorares abroad. They are helpful but it largely depends on the kind of people you reach out to.

Admission :

Students are admitted through an All-India entrance test, is select cities all over the country. It is also highly regarded as the best Central University in South India after University of Hyderabad (HCU). The entrance test for UG (Integrated) courses is at the level of 12th Grade Secondary School, while PG entrance test is based on UG syllabus of the respective discipline.

Faculty :

All faculties are Doctorates and a vast majority of them have worked as Post-doctoral fellows, and some have industry relevant experience as well. Most of them are research oriented and maintain good labs, but research experience depends on person to person.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as it's a job-oriented course and also provides good packages even if job opportunities are limited. Most of the topics we study here are at the application level. The syllabus is gate and net-oriented and would be more helpful for those who are preparing

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course contains significant information on using food science and technologies while primarily focusing on practical knowledge. The faculty: student ratio is approximately 1:30, but in technology, it is 1:20. While the faculties are highly experienced in their respective fields, they all try to provide as much practical knowledge in comparison with theoretical classes. This is considered significant for associating the faculties to bond with their students, which makes it enjoyable for the students to understand the context. The academic calendars are published by the department at the initial stage of the semester which provide information on tentative dates of exam and assignment submission. These are properly followed in the University. However, it is important to follow regular classes, making the exams easier. Following regular classes increases the chance of passing the exam for the students.

Placement Experience:

Fourth-semester students are eligible for campus placement. In the last year, 11 students from the mathematics department got placed in one of the reputed MNCs with an annual package of ten lakhs. Two students got placed in private banks. Some departments' placement cell is not that much active. I complete my degree in 2022, and currently, I am preparing for the neet exam

From the 3rd or 4th semester, students are eligible for placement. Placements are not that much expected but you can get a chance from outside the university. I want to do PhD in this course in future. For a job in this field, you have to be trained first so internship and lab works are important.

University offers good placement opportunities. Many companies come to them for hire. Recently zifo and solutions came for placement. The average package is around 3 to 4 lakh per annum. A good percentage of students from engineering and management, science departments got placements. I am also planning to get a placement through this opportunity.

Placement Experience:

The University has departments and placements. depend on the kind of courses pursued. The Management department attracts the best placements from the big companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I chose is one of a kind in India. Nowhere in India is there an Integrated MSc Economics course offered. Most other Universities offer courses in a general field like the Social Sciences or Humanities and the student must decide his/her specialization after 3 years. Here, in Pondicherry University I was immersed in my subject of Economics in year one itself. The emphasis on practical learning isn't the best because as a University, the emphasis is on making researchers and academicians. There is massive scope for research initiatives. The faculty is themselves fully immersed in their research and encourage student ideas. For example, I have co-authored a paper with my faculty and presented it at a National Seminar. The University is probably the best place to study a wide variety of subjects. The University follows a Choice Based Credit System and hence, a student is allowed to choose any course from more than 20 different departments. Therefore, it is common to see students from the School of Life Sciences sitting studying Elective subjects in Social Science subject like Economics, Sociology, History etc.
