Remarks :

Student queries can be addressed in a more organized and transparent way. The management and other staff could work responsibly. The hardworking students can be recognized better. Shuttle service can be improved. Bicycles should be available in the campus. As the university is too vast, it's almost impossible without a vehicle. Hostel and good can be better, because we are literally have no option rather than choosing it. Though students are okay to spend more money for better services.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is structured pretty decent. 4 semesters. But it feels like it's too much to concentrate for one semester. It feels it gets quite hectic, when you have to manage both practical and theory subjects. As it's Electronic Media, we've studios instead of labs. Which are equipped but not so modern, but definitely not bad. The cameras, VTR, computer labs are pretty good for a learner. The professors give you liberty and respect whichever field you are interested and don't expect you to excel in every subject. Each semester has two internal exams and one end semester exams, few weeks before the semester exams the final project has to be submitted, you'll have a project guide to guide you from Day 1. It's definitely not stressful compared to other courses.

Placement Experience :

Placements and internships are the worst here. Only Cognizant comes for job placement, which hires only Graphic Designers. And other jobs and internships should be sought from the contacts the professors have. They do help you out by sharing the job opportunities and vacancies available. But the student has to take initiative. There's no placement cell to manage all this, atleast not for this department - Electronic Media and Mass Communication.

College Events :

Fests like Freshers' day, Farewell, Film Festivals, Documentary festivals and symposiums happens in a few months span. Apart from this many cultural events happen too. The symposium and film festivals bring people from around the country which gives us an opportunity to meet and greet the experts. Which also provides an opportunity to gain contacts.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is ?43, 135 for 2 years. It is very much feasible than compared to the private institutions. And with the merit scholarships you get back half of the money too. But the fee structure varies for each course. With the facilities provided the fee is very reasonable. As this is a Central University, you don't have to worry about shelling a lot of money. Fee structure is approximately ?6000 - ?8000 each semester.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Merit scholarships for top 3 rank holders are given every sem: ?10000, ?7500, ?5000 respectively. And for students scoring above 8.5 cgpa are given ?3500. There are many loans available for reserved categories, Pondicherry students, students from jammu and kashmir and for students with army background.

Campus Life :

Many cultural and sports events are organized by the departments in the university. From management to physical education. There is also Hostel day which happens once a year, but not really a party. There is Student Elections happening every year, a representative from each department is elected and gains an opportunity to become the president, secretary and members of the Students council. But independent candidates don't really get a chance because student political parties dominate here.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel is 3 sharing basis. First allotment is random, in the second year, you can pick your roommates. Hostel is quite small, and meant to be for two persons. Facilities are below standard. Unclean toilets, weak wifi and no washing machines, hot water etc. Rooms have to cleaned on our own. Hostels are alloted based on how far the student is from and also based on reservation basis. I got 2nd rank, but they didn't give me hostel, as I didn't belong to reserved category and my house is in chennai. I had to go personally meet the hostel warden avail dormitory, and on the day of occupying it was upgraded to a hostel.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni meet up happens every two years. But many alumni keep in touch and visit the professors regularly. And the seniors are very friendly who stay in touch even after graduation. There is no ragging here. The friendly atmosphere is helpful.

Admission :

An all India entrance exam is conducted, which has to be registered to be paid and registered in prior. Exam centers in the given cities are alloted. Which are usually unknown colleges, in the outskirts. Date and time for particular courses are announced along with the admit cards. A computer based exam is conducted, which is objective type questions entirely. The results are announced in a month. The top 3 ranks in the entrance exam are qualified for a merit scholarship of Rs. 10, 000 7500 and 5000 respectively. The rank card and result list is published online. The date of enrolling and joining is given, which is usually within June. There is no personal interview. Only the original certificates have to be produced on the day of enrolling and fees (hostel to) has to be paid on the same day.

Faculty :

All the professors hold a PhD, except one who's currently working on his thesis. Though most of them are 40+, they don't seem old. They are quite updated about happenings in the industry and media field. From the softwares to the new technology. They actually prefer edmodo/Google classroom for sharing notes, making announcements and sometimes to conduct internal exams. They are friendly and give individual attention. They understand the background each student is from and are not partial towards anyone. They try to give equal opportunity to all, and also welcome students after class hours to clarify any doubts or seek guidance. Though there are few who stick to old classroom methods, but it won't be that much of a problem.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as it's a job-oriented course and also provides good packages even if job opportunities are limited. Most of the topics we study here are at the application level. The syllabus is gate and net-oriented and would be more helpful for those who are preparing

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course contains significant information on using food science and technologies while primarily focusing on practical knowledge. The faculty: student ratio is approximately 1:30, but in technology, it is 1:20. While the faculties are highly experienced in their respective fields, they all try to provide as much practical knowledge in comparison with theoretical classes. This is considered significant for associating the faculties to bond with their students, which makes it enjoyable for the students to understand the context. The academic calendars are published by the department at the initial stage of the semester which provide information on tentative dates of exam and assignment submission. These are properly followed in the University. However, it is important to follow regular classes, making the exams easier. Following regular classes increases the chance of passing the exam for the students.

Placement Experience:

Fourth-semester students are eligible for campus placement. In the last year, 11 students from the mathematics department got placed in one of the reputed MNCs with an annual package of ten lakhs. Two students got placed in private banks. Some departments' placement cell is not that much active. I complete my degree in 2022, and currently, I am preparing for the neet exam

From the 3rd or 4th semester, students are eligible for placement. Placements are not that much expected but you can get a chance from outside the university. I want to do PhD in this course in future. For a job in this field, you have to be trained first so internship and lab works are important.

University offers good placement opportunities. Many companies come to them for hire. Recently zifo and solutions came for placement. The average package is around 3 to 4 lakh per annum. A good percentage of students from engineering and management, science departments got placements. I am also planning to get a placement through this opportunity.

Placement Experience:

The University has departments and placements. depend on the kind of courses pursued. The Management department attracts the best placements from the big companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I chose is one of a kind in India. Nowhere in India is there an Integrated MSc Economics course offered. Most other Universities offer courses in a general field like the Social Sciences or Humanities and the student must decide his/her specialization after 3 years. Here, in Pondicherry University I was immersed in my subject of Economics in year one itself. The emphasis on practical learning isn't the best because as a University, the emphasis is on making researchers and academicians. There is massive scope for research initiatives. The faculty is themselves fully immersed in their research and encourage student ideas. For example, I have co-authored a paper with my faculty and presented it at a National Seminar. The University is probably the best place to study a wide variety of subjects. The University follows a Choice Based Credit System and hence, a student is allowed to choose any course from more than 20 different departments. Therefore, it is common to see students from the School of Life Sciences sitting studying Elective subjects in Social Science subject like Economics, Sociology, History etc.
