Remarks :
I hardly find any bad points about my college as I guess I have got a lot from my college but IfI think critically then I would say that the college building and sapce was of big constraint. As it was situated in mumbai we never had got luxury to play on very big cricket/football grounds.
Entrance Preview :
I scored in GATE and also the internal exam conducted at this college during that time. Both the exams carried equal weightage. I was able to score in both to secure admission 90% in GATE chemical engg. and around 85% in the internal exam.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum was unique and cover all important aspects of Bioprocess technology. It was well developed to include the interdisciplinary subjects (Biochemistry, microbiology, genetic engineering, Industrial biotechnology etc.). The course according to me was very well designed and best at those times in the college.
Internships Opportunities :
All major Biotech as well as chemical engineering companies of that time came for the interview (E.g. DRL, BIocon, Serum, Shatabiotechnics, Relieance, Shell etc).
Placement Experience :
Very good and the placement was almost 100% the placement was never issue with UDCT as UDCT is also famous through the publication that every year used to happen.
College Events :
Our college gathering used to be very special and once I remember (in 2006 we invited Shankar, Ehsaan and loy for the music show. We also had very quality internal functions like short skid, drama and other cultural program.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The UDCT was government college initially but when it became autonomous the fee structure increased by 200% but it was stiil in the reach of common middle class family, considering the worth of culture the college used to provide.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college was supported by DBT ans UGC scholarship, there were some Alumna scholarships as well which was significant in amount (ranging from 3000 till 10000 INR per months.
Campus Life :
The UDCT campus was full of life. The gender ration was almost 50-50% or even a bit percent more female candidates. We used to play lots of sport competitions with UG as well as with post graduate students. There also used to be language, competitive exam preparation study groups. The extracurricular activity was a lot in UDCT campus.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility and mess food was just at par as it was ruled by government employees. The food quality improved in 2007 when the college committee took over the hostels.
Alumni/Alumna :
The best part of the UDCT campus culture was friendly relationship and healthy competition (for sports) between the senior and juniors. Our seniors used to motivate us to take part in extracurricular activities and was always fun to interact with them.
Exam Structure :
The cuture was to work till late night and no restriction on college or lab entries to students hence we used to get access to library as well study room almost 24hrs.
Faculty :
The UDCT faculties are well known and recognised by the industrial as most of them work on real time industry problems as project work. Faculties like retired Prof. Mashelkar, retired Prof. M.M sharma, Prof. J.B Joshi, Prof. M. M Lali, and many more were amongst the well know faculties /personalities in industry (chemical /Biotech).
