Remarks :

Talking about the major central institutes of India, IIT BHU comes in top five in India. Chemistry was my favourite subject since 11th standard and M.Sc in chemistry was a great step for my career. Admission criteria states that a student needs to clear IIT JAM and the interview round. Admission fee and the form needs to be submitted online only since the institute does not accept offline payments. I took admission in the general category.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The entire course constitutes 80 credits including projects and assignments. Syllabus is covered in four semesters. Content of the course is updated after some time so that new studies are also added for the students to gain knowledge from. Quizzes, Seminars organized were very interesting and intriguing. Education qualification of the professors was a mix of doctorates and masters.

Placement Experience :

Placement opportunities are less for the M.Sc students. Most of them prefer to go in teaching line. In my batch, very less students sat for the placements. Companies who participated were JP Morgan, Microsoft, Bajaj, Samsung, HP, VISA, Adobe, Amazon, CISCO, OYO, American Express, etc and they brought forth over 172 Pre-Placement Offers. Highest CTC went to Rs.1.03 CPA and international CTC was Rs. 1.53 CPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are only two kinds of scholarships available for the students. One is the Merit-cum means scholarship and National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students. Total fee for two years is Rs. 62380. I applied for the merit scholarship and got selected too. Separate form filling is there for the scholarship. Financial aid or education loan from the banks is also an option.

Campus Life :

Varanasi being a religious city is famous for boat rides and temples. Campus life was ok. In the field of chemistry, few quizzes and competitions were organized for the students to participate and win prizes. Infrastructure of the campus is kind of old. New buildings were under construction when i was studying at the campus. I spent most of my time in the canteen and in the back lawns of the hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The campus provide hands on experience in this course. The curriculum is updated according to the new trends in the field of forensic science. They provide hands on experience on case studies, projects, laboratory experiments and whole crime scene investigation exposure from the 1st step reaching to crime scene till getting it the evidence collected packed and sent to the particular department for their examination. Here we have learnt about FIR (First Information Report) proper sealing of evidence and labelling them. They have prepared us for real world crime investigation. But i think their is still some improvement is needed in curriculum as the course provides us all the detailed learning about the laboratory related and investigation related things but with upcoming trends i think we should also learn the crime related to digital platforms like cyber crime, frauds, scams, Phishing which are new crime trends in our society so that we can get more job opportunities in forensic field

Course Curriculum Overview:

Till class 12 I don't want to study chemistry but in the university my whole perpective is changed because of my professor as they make the lessons quite easy. They not only focus upon the current part of lessons but also starts from the starting i.e they focus upon the improvement of basics. Every thing is nice but timings are not good as it takes complete day.

Firstly, I like zoology as a subject as it really gives us knowledge regarding every single life forms . The curriculum lead me to find ways to deal with organisms. Animal behaviour is a subject which needed some more improvements. Exams were continuous and leads to pressure on a difficulty level.

Placement Experience:

Actually from the 2nd semester, students can apply for placements. Almost 50-70% of students were placed in this course. The highest and lowest package of salary is offered and it depends on the performance of students. The highest salary is something 20, 000 per month on the other hand the lowest salary is 35, 000 per month. And average salary offer in course is 20, 000 per month approx. There are many companies like TCS, HTC, Wipro, Flipkart and Amazon are in our course. almost 50-70% can get internships from my college. My plan after MSC is to teach in a higher college at a high level. I am also applying for a good job.
